Hiking in the Turtmann Valley – Attempting the Barrhorn Summit

Wandern im Turtmanntal – Versuchter Gipfelsturm aufs Barrhorn || Gässi Soon after lunch we set out again in an attempt to reach the summit of the Barrhorn (3610 m / 11.843 ft). We walk past meadows full of edelweiss and soon reach the most challenging part of our hike: Gässi (T3+). To scale Gässi, we have to cross a very steep and slippery slope full of loose rubble, and then get into the rock face. Fortunately, the trail is secured by ropes and iron steps bolted into the rock. While the task looks rather daunting from below for inexperienced climbers, once in the rocks, we notice the task is doable and the challenge not as grand. A Very Sad Day (Or: Please Play Fair!)

Ein trauriger Tag (Oder: Bitte seid fair!) Today is the very sad day that I always knew I’d be facing one day. But when it does happen it still feels pretty bad. Today is the day when I discovered that my designs have been posted on a Russian file sharing website (Yandex) for others to download 🙁 . I always knew that – in spite of the fact that I beg people in every single freebie post to play fair and not redistribute and share images from my designs – there are still those who don’t care about all the hard work that has gone into creating these scrapbook designs; those who’ll try to take advantage no matter what. A Tough Nut

Eine harte Nuss So, here’s the dilemma: When I went shopping for the Christmas holidays, I discovered they were selling hazel nuts in the supermarket – something I hadn’t seen around here before (hazel nuts are a typical “snack” during the Christmas season in my family). So, of course, I had to get myself a bagful of them. Assuming, that is that my nutcracker, of which I know that I have one, must be sitting at home in one of my kitchen drawers, patiently awaiting his opportunity to be of use. But soon after I got home, I discovered, nutcracker had gone off, wandering about, and was nowhere to be found (something that’s not too infrequent here as my kitchen is pretty well equipped and people often come knocking on my door asking for this or that).
