Treasure Sunday: New Love

Got you a new pretty page, today: “New Love” by ChantalK I love the simple design of this page. The colors are so pretty, the scattered elements, delicate brush work, great use of white space and arrangements are adorable! And don’t you think the photo is the cutest?

CT Spotlight (05/14)

This was a strange week – as far as my CT obligations were concerned. Never has this happened to me before, but all of the designers I work for decided to take a break this week (probably iNSD was just too crazy, lol!), which means no work officially for me! But I have one product that should be mentioned here, and it’s Libby’s “Here Comes The Sun.” The kit was included in The Digi Files last month, but Libby officially released it today at SSD. Here’s the layout I created for the digi file release, and that was a long while back:

Freebie Friday: Growth

It always makes me so happy to see when a layout done with one of my templates makes a GSO somewhere. This week this happened once again, but before I get to that, let me share this week’s new template with you: It’s a page based on my layout “Growth,” which I created earlier this week. I hope, you’ll enjoy it! And here is the layout, I’ve wanted to share with you, created by Kate: She did such a good job with this page that I first didn’t even recognize the template. And I love how she added her own finishing touches to this layout, making it truly her own page! Thanks for sharing this with us, Kate! Now, I better leave you to your scrapping, but don’t forget to add a link to your finished gallery uploads to this post, so we can all see what you do with this template (and get more inspiration)! Happy Friday, everyone! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share the link to …

Enable Me: Story Board (LYM)

Have you ever been in need for some journal inspiration? If yes, I great place to find prompts and ideas for your journaling is the Log Your Memory Story Board. On a regular basis, the staff of LYM will provide journaling prompts, and layouts focusing on that idea to get your mojo going again. Check it out, for you might just find the inspiration you need over there!

Behind the Scenes: It’s All Black & White

Today, I’d like to share a little  about black & white photography. Monochrome photos are timeless. They add emotion and drama to a picture, and sometimes an otherwise rather boring photo can gain momentum and become quite capturing when turned into a black & white image. Almost any scene can be turned into a black & white image, though when working with these kinds of photos, it’s good to know a few things about black & white photography to enhance the quality of your pictures significantly. Contrast Without color, the various shades of gray in black & white photography become rather prominent. Therefore, it becomes very important to make the subject of your photo stand out from the rest of the photo. A light subject against a dark background, for example, will accomplish that, but including various shades of gray also can make a big difference, since they will add depth to your photo. Shape & Form Without color to guide and lead you through the photograph, shape and form become very important aspects of your …

Monday Highlight: What’s Happening

Ah, NSD and all its excitements! Are you glad it’s over, or did you fully enjoy all the games and contests and scrapping that took place all over digiland this past weekend? For me personally, NSD doesn’t hold that great of an excitement anymore, since with the monthly portfolio at SSD (and various other stores), I get my personal NSD every month on ‘sweet rewards day’ lol. Today is SR-day for me, and with various coupons and free kits I’ve received over the last weekend from SSD and some designers, I’m having a real flood of new products that I can’t wait to play with. One of these new products I want to highlight today – a kit by one of my favorite designers ever: What’s Happening? by Fee Jardine I love Fee’s sense for colors and patterns. Her papers usually come with a great range various designs. The patterns she uses are a mixture of ornate swatches and large, sweeping designs – perfect for both, the white-space scrapper, and the full-page scrapper. Fee’s embellishments …

Treasure Sunday: Too Fast

I hope you’re all enjoying iNSD! I for sure do – have got myself some little something with a coupon, and participated in some of the challenges over at SSD. On top of that it’s Mother’s Day in many places of this world, so “Happy Mother’s Day” to all you moms! But with all the excitement going on, I don’t want to forget that it’s Treasure Sunday here at mistyhilltops.com. I already skipped last Sunday, but I have a new layout I found in the galleries for this week: “Too Fast” by Tronesia I love the cluster she created with this Mini Kit, all the leaves, flowers, and buttons. The photos are adorable, and the little wordstrips just add the perfect little extra to this place. Thanks for sharing this page with us, Tronesia!

iNSD 2011

It’s the weekend many of us have been waiting for so long: International Scrapbook Day. Have you checked out all the stores yet? There are sales going on everywhere! It’s your chance to get some great deals on digiscrap products all over digiland! And you also might want to check out the forums of your favorite stores, for I’m sure almost everywhere they are having special activities, contests, etc. to celebrate iNSD! SSD certainly has a lot of different contest going on, so make sure, you don’t miss out on winning some fabulous goodies!

CT Spotlight (05/07)

I’ve got some good, and some bad news for you today! And since I always like to get over with the bad stuff first, so I can enjoy the good, I’ll start with the bad news: I had to quit the CT of Nanie’s Designs. 🙁 There’s just a lot going on recently, so I’ve had to cut back on my CT requirements and turn down other offers in the last couple of weeks, but the good news is, I’m still working for the SSD designers. And since it’s Saturday, let’s quickly get to the new releases this weekend: First off, Libby Pritchett released an adorable scrapbook-themed product, as well as a collab with Shawna Clingerman. Cindy has a whole entourage of templates she’s released today. And Darcy has two fun fonts, one of which comes in three versions.

Freebie Friday: Recorded

Ack! I’m late again! So sorry. It’s been a really busy week, and on top of that I had to squeeze in a trip to the city to get some official paper work stuff done, and there was literally no time to get another template done in time. (You may have realized that my layouts have become a little scarce recently,  too! There’s just a lot going on for me, recently!) But here we finally are … no more apologies. I’m relieved to present you with this week’s new template, based on my page “Happiness Recorded.” Please hook me up with your completed pages, so I can see what you do with these templates! That’s the fun side for me! And feel free to share about these freebies with others as well, so more people can check them out and enjoy them! Anyways, hope you’ll enjoy iNSD weekend and get to lots of scrapping these coming  days! As always – Happy Friday! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share …
