Treasure Sunday: December 4th

Sundays are happy days, because it means I get to go treasure hunting again, and look what I found today …

PS I Love You by Lu Martins

Starting off today’s quest with this gem. I love how this page looks quite cluttered, and yet, it doesn’t overwhelm me with all that’s going on there. It’s so much fun to discover all the details, the doodles and stitches, and all the various elements and clusters.

Ok, so this page doesn’t actually use any scrapbook products, and yet I totally love it. That the photos are absolutely stunning, is pretty much a given, but I just love the very clean and simple design, the blocking, and the title and journaling is so pretty.

This page just makes me happy looking at it. I love the cluster, the splatters of color in the background, and the photo is such a fun picture, too!

Forget by Scrappie Irene

Got another sample that stood quite out to me in the gallery. Love the artistic feel of this page, the unusual approach to digiscrapping, and of course the sentiment which is really noteworthy.

Wow, wow, wow! This page just takes my breath away. It’s so pretty, and delicate, and yes, quite “elegant.” Beautiful photo, too, and a great job with the cluster and composition.

Not To Be Recommended by Bush Girl

This page makes me laugh, (and sorry “Bush Girl” for laughing, because at the same time I can feel the pain). It’s just that this page is quite a lot of fun to look at. I love the clean, daily schedule-type journaling,  peppered with the additional journaling element, the doodled pieces, and the overall worn look of this page. And of course, the photo totally says it all! I think a lot of us can feel with this – at times, so thanks for the recommendation of how not to spend a Saturday!

Last, but not least, comes this beauty. I love the “richness” of this page – rich in colors, patterns, elements and clustering, and of course I dig photo pockets!

Thanks, ladies, for sharing all your beautiful gems with us.

Until next Sunday then for another round of treasure hunting.

What Mountain Climbing Has To Do With Cookie Baking

I went mountain climbing with friends today; and thanks to one of my friends, I learned something new. There’s that old saying that goes like this: The earthen vessel may not blame its potter, asking, “Why have you made me this way?” Likewise – my friend felt free to instruct me as we were hiking – the baker shouldn’t blame his cookie: “Why have you turned out so sweet!?”

And don’t you know – I had to agree with my friend: There’s quite some truth to that.

What? You’re still not quite understanding what cookie baking has to do with mountain climbing?

Well, here’s the story:
I’d brought some homemade cookies with me for sharing as a snack with others during the hike (it’s Christmas season after all). I’d made those cookies combining two recipes, and while they still tasted pretty good, they also were a little too sweet for my liking. It made me feel like I had to apologize for the cookies when sharing them. But my friend was right: I couldn’t really blame those poor cookies for their sweetness, now could I?

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 23 – Merry Christmas

It’s that time of the year again. My favorite season! And in honor of the season, today’s hybrid post – of course – has to be a Christmas themed one. This one is the latest card I created with Julie Billingsley’s “A Frosty Christmas.” The holly leaves on the label I found among my Photoshop Custom Shapes, and for the sentiment, I simply used one of the fonts on my computer. Here you can take a closer look at this card:

Let the Season Begin!

It’s filled with goodies again this year. My advent calendar. I have very few traditions that I keep up, but this is one I was glad to revive last year. Admitted, this year the goodies are only half as good as they were last year (then they came directly from Germany with a huge assortment of choices – and Germany does have some great treats, I assure you!). But still, it’s a full blown advent calendar; that serves as decoration and comfort in a place where there’s otherwise few indications of the season! And if there’s no sign of Christmas outside, well then we have to make it even more like Christmas inside!

In that sense, let the season begin! And I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas season 2011!
