Mein Weihnachtsalbum 2016 – Wochenrückblick #3 The season seems to be flying by. What with something fun and Christmas-y to do every day, there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day for all that’s going on. But with the foundation template I’ve been using, working on my Christmas album this year really is super easy, and I can stay focused on what matters most: enjoying the season. Take a look at what was going on this past week (Images are linked for product info): Die Weihnachtszeit vergeht einfach wie im Flug. Und es gibt so viel weihnachtliches für mich zu tun, dass die Zeit vorne und hinten nicht reicht. Hybrid Hub: Boxes & Bags

Bastelecke: Boxen und Taschen I was busy crafting away this weekend. With St. Nicholas Day on December 6th, I wanted to have a way to present those cookies my students have been busy baking last week. So, I pulled out my Silhouette again, and began cutting whatever bags I have in my stash. I stamped them with some Christmas stamps I got a couple of years ago (and never really used yet), and this is what came of it: Habe am Wochenende fleissig gebastelt. Da am Dienstag ja Nikolaustag war, wollte ich die Plätzchen an den Mann bringen, die meine Studenten letzte Woche so fleissig gebacken haben. Also musste meine Silhouette Cameo ran. Ich habe so ziemlich jedes Täschchen und jede Box ausgeschnitten, die ich über die Jahre so angesammelt habe. Habe sie dann noch mit weihnachtlichen Stempeln versehen und hier ist, was dabei herausgekommen ist:

St. Nicholas Day 2016

Nikolaustag 2016 Two things. One: Yes, I’m aware that I’m far too old to care about such things as St. Nicholas Day (which is a very exciting day for kids in Germany because they get their stockings on December 6th). Two: I still love to have fun with it, simply because it’s something that reminds me of home. Of course, my mostly American dear colleagues and friends here could care less about St. Nicholas Day. But that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have fun with it. So, I’m having a blast wishing everyone a happy St. Nicholas Day, and of course, if I’m not getting any stockings today, at least I can make sure my friends do. On that note: Happy St. Nicholas Day, everyone! Zwei Dinge. Erstens: Ja, ich bin mir bewusst, dass ich viel zu alt bin, um mich um solche Dinge wie den Nikolaustag zu scheren. Zweitens: Ich habe immer noch viel Spaß mit dem Nikolaustag. Einfach deshalb, weil es ein Brauch ist, der mich an Weihnachten daheim erinnert. Natürlich ist der Nikolaustag meinen lieben, …

Detention (Or: Make-Up Day)

Nachsitzen It happened! Just as I knew it would! Remember the snow day we had a couple of weeks ago? Yeah. Never just think that you can get away with a snow day. Nope. And don’t for a second dream of finding a sensible time to make up for missed classes. Not here! Nope. We had to make up the snow day. And guess, which day – of all days – they decided for us to have those missed classes! Sunday. Yes. That’s where I live. Here, Sunday is just another day in your week. Might as well go to class any way. So, I guess, students and teachers all agreed: We’d have much rather gone to school that day, and have an actual weekend! Es ist passiert! Genau wie ich es geahnt habe. Erinnert ihr euch noch an den Unterrichtsausfall wegen Schnees vor Kurzem? Ja. Denke ja nicht, du kommst mit einem Schneetag davon. Nö.
