iNSD 2011

It’s the weekend many of us have been waiting for so long: International Scrapbook Day. Have you checked out all the stores yet? There are sales going on everywhere! It’s your chance to get some great deals on digiscrap products all over digiland! And you also might want to check out the forums of your favorite stores, for I’m sure almost everywhere they are having special activities, contests, etc. to celebrate iNSD! SSD certainly has a lot of different contest going on, so make sure, you don’t miss out on winning some fabulous goodies!

CT Spotlight (05/07)

I’ve got some good, and some bad news for you today! And since I always like to get over with the bad stuff first, so I can enjoy the good, I’ll start with the bad news: I had to quit the CT of Nanie’s Designs. 🙁 There’s just a lot going on recently, so I’ve had to cut back on my CT requirements and turn down other offers in the last couple of weeks, but the good news is, I’m still working for the SSD designers. And since it’s Saturday, let’s quickly get to the new releases this weekend: First off, Libby Pritchett released an adorable scrapbook-themed product, as well as a collab with Shawna Clingerman. Cindy has a whole entourage of templates she’s released today. And Darcy has two fun fonts, one of which comes in three versions.

Saturday Feature: Bake Sale

Our last bake sale has been quite a while ago. If you remember, it was back during the Christmas season in December. So, this bake sale was long anticipated! And not only that, but probably it’ll be the last bake sale in a while, since most of my colleagues who usually organize it are leaving after this semester :-(. Anyways, the profits usually go towards an organization that supports orphanages in our area, which makes buying these delicacies all the more justifiable. Though the line of those wanting to indulge was long, and the best goodies sold out immediately, I still was able to get my hands on some of the treats. Don’t ask me what exactly they were, for I don’t remember much beyond the peanut butter cups, peanut oatmeal non-bake cookies, and a cupcake. But I sure did enjoy to give myself a treat!

Freebie Friday: Recorded

Ack! I’m late again! So sorry. It’s been a really busy week, and on top of that I had to squeeze in a trip to the city to get some official paper work stuff done, and there was literally no time to get another template done in time. (You may have realized that my layouts have become a little scarce recently,  too! There’s just a lot going on for me, recently!) But here we finally are … no more apologies. I’m relieved to present you with this week’s new template, based on my page “Happiness Recorded.” Please hook me up with your completed pages, so I can see what you do with these templates! That’s the fun side for me! And feel free to share about these freebies with others as well, so more people can check them out and enjoy them! Anyways, hope you’ll enjoy iNSD weekend and get to lots of scrapping these coming  days! As always – Happy Friday! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share …

Fun with Chinglish: Cherish Your Life!

Sign reads: “Cherish your life, keep away from fire!” Note: When posting anything in the Fun with Chinglish section, I don’t mean to show disrespect towards anything or anyone in any way. I’m simply sharing the fun we get to have with all those great signs & documents!

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 6 – Hope

Recently, the weather here has been really nice – not too hot, not too cold – so I’m in the right spring mood. And there is no better thing than showing you another one of my recent spring-themed cards, I’ve made. This one is entitled “Hope” and with the large bright butterfly hope will soar to whomever this card may reach. As with my other recent cards, I created this one using one of the paper piecing patterns available for free over at scrapbooksetc.com to create the butterfly. The pretty spring-themed papers are all from Libby Pritchett’s Easter-themed release “Dye Job,” available at SSD.

Around Town: Going for Ice-Cream

Summer is almost here, and what a happy circumstance it is that several months ago a new place in town opened its doors to the public – a mixture between coffee shop, fast food restaurant, and dairy store. Some of us call it the sandwich place, but basically it’s like a nice cafe where you sit and talk, and enjoy a cup of coffee or ice cream. I admit, I love ice cream! So, with the weather getting oh so warm, every once in a while this is a nice place to stop by and get a little treat!

Inspire Me: Grow With Love Creative Team Gallery

This month, I have a new gallery that I want to introduce to you for some inspiration. The Grow With Love Creative Team Gallery (GWL CT Gallery). This is not a gallery of one individual scrapper (as I usually share with you here every first Wednesday of each month), but it’s the gallery where members of the CT of template designers Sarah Gleason & Crystal Livesay post their layouts. Most of you who often stop by my blog probably have realized already that I don’t really have one particular scrapping style, as I love to experiment with my pages and try out different styles and techniques. If I had to narrow my style down to just one favorite, though, I’d probably say, it’s the white-space scrapping style – a somewhat minimalist page design with lots of open space that hasn’t been packed with papers and embellishments. I love white-space pages. And that’s probably why I love the GWL CT Gallery! All the pages are based on the awesome templates of Sarah & Crystal that allow …

Food Corner: Mixed Green Leaf Salad

I have to say, salads and fresh vegetables are not very common in Chinese Cuisine. Most vegetables come fried in the wok (like almost everything else). If you look hard enough, though, you can find some fresh vegetable dishes like this green leaf salad. I can’t even tell what kinds of leaves actually made it into this salad, though around here, salads often come with mint leaves. The dressing usually consists of some spices combined with vinegar, and though they may not look like the typical green salads we can get in the West, Chinese salads still can be quite tasty!
