Monday Highlight: Hippity Hop

The Easter holidays aren’t over yet, (at least in Germany, today is still a full-blown holiday), so of course, I should share an Easter product with you, and since I have a recent favorite, I “must” show it to you: True, there are tons of Easter kits out there, but I’ve got several reasons why I think this kit by Kristin tops all the others: The warm color palette of soft pastels, without being too overtly pink-ish, (therefore making it quite versatile) The beautifully patterned papers, The amount of unique, oh so pretty and fun embellishments, including lots of realia from nature All the fun and colorful pieces of wordart, And the extensive alphas included. Those of you who come to check out my blog regularly, probably have seen the layout I recently created with this kit already. But since I didn’t have the time to work with “Hippity Hop” any further since I got it, that page will have to do. So, here’s an example of what you can do using this beautiful kit:

Treasure Sunday: Happy Easter!

I’m a huge fan of white space layouts, and here is one that I found in the galleries that makes use of the white space just perfectly: Of course, it’s the perfect page for today’s occasion on top of that! I love the soft colors, the photo she chose, the beautiful clustering, and isn’t it just amazing how she arranged the title inside the two clusters? Anyhow, I wish everyone happy Easter holidays!

Saturday Feature: Easter Eggs

Very late, but Easter has finally come this year! At least in many parts of the world this weekend is the official Easter Holiday. Here in China, Easter is very little known of, and of course, it’s not a holiday here at all. While life is continuing just like usually, I thought I’d give some of my students a little surprise. We colored Easter eggs. Admitted, it’s a little late to start putting up Easter decoration now, but then I always think: better late than never! So, I had my students go through the whole process of blowing the eggs, rinsing, drying and painting. Of course, at first, they didn’t really understand why I would go through the hassle of blowing the eggs, instead of simply cracking them open, but once they understood, they got all excited. For them, it was the first time ever to decorate Easter eggs, and they diligently colored them with plain colors, striped designs, and faces! Happy Easter, everyone!

Fun with Chinglish: Don’t Break The Flowers

Yet another sign that has newly been put up on campus. It says: “Don’t break the flowers!” Let me draw your attention to the overwhelming amount of flowers surrounding this sign ;-). Yes, you really don’t want to break any flowers, should you be lucky enough to find some! Note: When posting anything in the Fun with Chinglish section, I don’t mean to show disrespect towards anything or anyone in any way. I’m simply sharing the fun we get to have with all those great signs & documents!

Hybrid Hub: Happy Times

Last week, I shared with you some Easter card inspiration from scrapbooksetc.com. Of course, I couldn’t just share this with you, and not try my hand on some of the ideas they have to offer on their website. So, I downloaded their paper piecing patterns (you have to sign up for that, but it’s free), and started playing. For this card, I used the ladybug paper piecing pattern. After all, it’s spring, and I wanted to create a spring-themed, happy card.  I added the scalloped circle (two layers), the gingham paper for the background, plus a green mat, added a little sentiment, and that’s all there was to this card. I love how fun and easy it is to turn those paper piecing patterns into cards. For this card I used Libby Pritchett’s digiscrap kit “And Your Bird Can Sing.” The bright, patterned, fun papers work great for hybrid projects and cards (as do many of Libby’s products in general). Stay posted, for I have more to come in the next couple of weeks.

Around Town: To the Rape Fields

April is certainly the season for the oilseed rape to be in bloom here. So, some of us love to take our bikes out (or rent bikes), to go for rides into the fields behind the school. Being amidst the bright yellow flowers surely makes me happy, every time a get a chance to get out!

Enable Me: Toasted Photoshop Actions

I love Enable-Me-Wednesdays, because it’s so much fun to share some of the great resources available on the www with you.
