EnglishAutumn is in full swing, and I feel very privileged, for it is the first time in many years that I get to experience a German autumn. Where I’ve lived these last 10+ years, autumn goes like this: summer heat, summer heat, summer heat; two weeks of cooling down. Winter. In terms of gushing fall colors, it goes like this: green leaves, green leaves, mix of anything between green and brown. Brown leaves. Leaves gone. As if that’s not enough, I’ve also noticed that the workers around where I live – I kid you not – start shaking the trees as soon as they change color, and there is never that rustling of leaves on the ground as they are swept up, often before they hit the ground. So, for me to be able to experience a German autumn with all its glory is something I savor and have much appreciation for. EnglishThe kids are back, visiting with grandma and grandpa, and though the weather is just like it ought to be in autumn, or maybe because the weather is like that, we decided to go fly a kite. Grandpa was a big help, though in the end, the rain made it a bit difficult to get the kite in the air. DeutschDie Kids sind wieder im Land, auf Besuch bei Oma und Opa. Und obgleich das Wetter sehr herbstlich ist (oder vielleicht gerade weil das Wetter so herbstlich ist) haben wir uns entschieden, Drachen steigen zu lassen. Opa war dabei eine große Hilfe. Aber am Ende hat der Regen das Unterfangen ein bisschen schwierig gemacht – nasse Drachen mögen nicht fliegen.
EnglishThere is much to do in the garden these days. Almost daily I can walk around and collect apples, walnuts and other delectable produce. DeutschIm Garten gibt es derzeit viel zu tun. Fast täglich kann ich Äpfel, Nüsse und andere Leckereien einsammeln.
Autumn has finally arrived here as well. It’s lovely, walking around campus and seeing all the colors. It only lasts a short while, so we’re making the most of it. Der Herbst ist endlich auch hier bei uns angekommen. Es macht Freude über den Campus zu laufen, und die vielen Farben zu genießen. Lange wird es ja nicht anhalten.
Autumn is right around the corner, and we can see it coming already. Der Herbst naht, und wir können schon die Vorboten sehen.
Projekt Leben 2016 – Woche 45 I finished another week of project life, and am ready to show you the result. One of the more interesting things that happened this week was the flooding of our dining hall and lobby. But we’ve also been enjoying the most beautiful autumn. Was diese Woche vielleicht am interessantesten war, war das Überfluten des Speisesaals und der Lobby. Aber wir genießen hier auch den schönsten Herbst. Projekt Leben 2016 – Woche 44 Well, I haven’t done much of Project Life this year at all. Good for me that I’m not stuck on saying that if I didn’t start in the beginning of the year, I shouldn’t do it at all. I can do whatever I want. And for me that meant starting my 2016 PL with week 44! Go, Sula! Better late than never. I actually like working on pocket style layouts. It’s so much fun to fill my pockets with the memories of my life. So, this week I worked on about 20 photo pockets (which I’ll be sharing with you in the future), so I could get started on this year’s PL. I used my Like Sunshine freebie collection, which you can find HERE. There’s so much in this collection, that filling up a 2-page spread goes really fast.
