EnglishAutumn is in full swing, and I feel very privileged, for it is the first time in many years that I get to experience a German autumn. Where I’ve lived these last 10+ years, autumn goes like this: summer heat, summer heat, summer heat; two weeks of cooling down. Winter. In terms of gushing fall colors, it goes like this: green leaves, green leaves, mix of anything between green and brown. Brown leaves. Leaves gone. As if that’s not enough, I’ve also noticed that the workers around where I live – I kid you not – start shaking the trees as soon as they change color, and there is never that rustling of leaves on the ground as they are swept up, often before they hit the ground. So, for me to be able to experience a German autumn with all its glory is something I savor and have much appreciation for.
