Hybrid Hub: Autumn Card #1

I finally did again! It’s been a long while since I last did any hybrid project, but I finally sat down to make some cards again, and here’s my first to share with you. This one is actually a very simple one. I just cut four rectangles, added an apple a bow and a sentiment, and voi la! A pretty giveaway that will make someone happy some day! Here’s a closer look at the card … Supplies used: Everyday Storytelling: Autumn by Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Jenn Barrette; ribbon; white card stock

Digital Scrapbook Day

I know it seems like forever since I’ve been able to come around my little scrapbook corner. But life has just been crazy busy over the last couple of months, and it seems to stay busy even as things are finally settling down. That, however, doesn’t mean I don’t have lots of ideas and inspiration in store for you again (though fighting bad internet connections, you’ll have to bear with me), but I’d like to jump into getting my digiscrap corner active again by starting off with some exciting news: Digital Scrapbook Day is upon us! For most places in digiland that means lots of sales, offers, goodies, contests, and giveaways, and for the Sweetshoppers among us, the excitement has started already! Just a couple of minutes ago, the new releases were posted along with super sweet sales, and for the next couple of days, you can shop, chatter away in the forums, and – of course – scrap your heart out! Don’t forget to check out the new goodies, because there’s lots of awesomeness …

Hybrid Hub: Inspiration by Joana

I do my own hybrid projects (given I find the time for it, which hasn’t been the case in a long while). But recently, my attention has been drawn to one outstanding hybrid artist over at SSD. She goes by Joana1n in the galleries, and for the last couple of weeks her gallery at SSD has been bursting with hybrid layouts of the finest sort. I never cease to be amazed at the paper pages she produces with digital products, and it’s a real source of inspiration that gets me all itchy again to make time, find it somehow, for a little more hybrid scrapping myself. If you’re in doubt, go and check out her amazing GALLERY and see how she uses digital scrapbooking kits so perfectly to create beautiful paper scrapbook pages.

Inspire Me: mom2peanuts

I’m excited, because today I get to do something I had meant to do for a long time – I get to introduce you to another one of my favorite scrappers. In the galleries, she goes as mom2peanuts, and her layouts amaze me time and again. She has a very distinct style, which means, I can see a page in the galleries and immediately know it’s one of hers. Still, I can’t help myself, each time I stumble upon one of her layouts, I have to look at it and absorb the composition and all the little details she adds. The probably No. 1 distinct feature of her scrapping style is her impeccable sense and ability for clustering and composition. If you’re ever in need for some great inspiration for one of your own pages, don’t forget to bookmark mom2peanuts’ gallery, because you’ll always find something to admire! You can find her MSA gallery HERE.

Behind the Scenes: Creating Your Own Labels

With the Project Life being such a rage, labels have become really popular over the last couple of months. A lot of designers have picked up on the trend and regularly provide PL-type labels in their kits. Oftentimes, however, I find myself still not having exactly the kind of label I’m looking for on my layout. My answer to this problem: I sometimes create my own labels. It’s quick, it’s easy, all I need is paper (patterned and solids both work), and I’m ready to create my very own label that perfectly suits my needs. Take this layout for example: This kit “Sweet Caroline” by Kristin Cronin-Barrow didn’t include any suitable label that would fit in the little compartment of the tray that I had chosen for my journaling. No problem, I thought, I’m just going to make my own label that will fit just perfectly. Here’s how it works …   In this tutorial, you will learn how to … … create a shape layer, … duplicate the shape layer and erase parts of …

Journaling Café: Living Intentional

Many scrappers choose a word at the beginning of the year that serves as a motto to them throughout the year. I’ve seen some people choose the word “Intentional,” and so this week I thought, our journaling prompts could be about living intentional: Maybe these journal prompts will even inspire a page or two for you this week. The font used here is my own handwriting font DJB Squirrels In My Pants by Darcy Baldwin (available at the Sweetshoppe).

Treasure Sunday: March 11th

Hello happiness by Juhh We’re starting off this week’s finger pointing with this happy little page. It’s so playful with the stacked papers and elements, and the photo is such fun!   P52 – Week 8 by aurian What a great way to scrap a week. The composition of this page is awesome and the little tidbits of elements she scattered over the page, just add the perfect little finishing touches to this layout.   His life and mine by whatnext My next pick is such great mixture of blending and brushwork. And what a fun way to add some journaling, too!   2012 – wk 10 by ViVre This page stood out to me because of its simple and clean design. That really allows the photos to shine, which really is perfect for a photo centered layout.     The sky is the limit by madigirl Another  page full of fun blending and brushwork. On top of that the blue pops of color give this layout such a fresh feel to it.     Love Blooms …

Freebie Friday: Cuties

Yay, it’s Friday again, and I thought I’d turn my page “Cuties” into a template for you. Comes in a layered psd file. Simply click on the image to download. And if you haven’t checked my little digiscrap-corner in a while, you also might want to check out the last three templates that I posted. They’re still available for download a little longer, so make sure to pick them up, before they’re gone. Also, don’t forget to link us up with your finished pages to show us how you’re using these templates. And as always, all I’m left to say is: Happy Friday, scrappers! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share the link to this post), and when you use this template, please make sure to credit it to Misty Hilltops Designs.

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 27

Sending out more thank-you notes. This one was made with Fee Jardine’s “Jeanie Bloom” (it’s such a pity that she retired last year, she was one of my favorite designers), and I love the flowery paper, and denim alpha. Printing and cutting out flowers actually helps to keep cards flat, esp. if you intend to send cards like these to someone via mail.
