December Daily 2012: Week 2 Recap

Another week has passed, and I’m happy to say that my DD project is coming along nicely. First, I was a little concerned that I might not be able to stay on top of it this year (because I decided to make a couple of changes to the routine). But with some delay, I’m actually able to keep up. So, with no further ado, here comes this past week: For larger views and credits click on the images. And don’t forget to pick up the latest part of the scrapbook kit “A Grateful Heart” in the freebie section. Freebie Friday: A Grateful Heart, Part 4

Hello, hello, and happy Friday, scrappers! I’m excited to break into the ellies of “A Grateful Heart” with you today. The first part comes today, and the last and final part of this scrapbook kit will follow next week, so stay tuned. Let me know if something doesn’t work with the downloads. You can also still pick up the previous three parts (alphas and papers) in the previous freebie posts – just keep scrolling down this page. As always, I should add that this kit is for personal use only, and if you want to share it with anyone, send them this way so they can snatch the downloads from this website. Hope today’s part will help you get started on scrapping with this kit. So for now, I’ll leave you with my final note: Happy scrapping, and happy Friday, scrappers!

Hybrid Hub: Christmas Cards 2012, Part 2

I just mailed my batch of Christmas cards (and hope they’ll make it to Europe in time for the holidays) – yay! (Big sigh of release …) And while I’m waiting for them to arrive, I’m happy to share some more with you here this week. (And in case you’re wondering why my Christmas cards are so generic and don’t have any family photos etc. that’s because in that part of Europe where I’m from we don’t have the habit of mailing photo Christmas cards.) Supplies used: Deck the Halls Classic by Kristin Cronin-Barrow, white card stock, ribbon. Supplies used: This Life: December by Penny Springman, card stock Supplies used: Noel by Shawna Clingerman & Penny Springman, ribbon, card stock And since in much of Europe, today’s St. Nicholas Day, I wish everyone who cares about such things a Happy St. Nicholas Day!

Behind the Scenes: December Daily Twenty-Twelve

Like every year around this time, all the talk is about the December Daily project. So, for today’s tutorial post I’d like to take you behind the scenes of my own DD project this year, sharing some of my thoughts and processes.   Last Year If you have looked at my DD album from last year, you will have noticed that all my pages were based on the same foundation page: photos on the left (stuck into photo pockets), journaling on the right side with two clusters of embellishments, the title, and the date info. I had created myself a foundation page template which helped me jump start each page quickly, and without having to spend much thought on composition, choice of papers, and placement, scrapping each page was a breeze. Even now, one year later, I still love how my pages turned out, and when I first started thinking about this year’s DD project, I was seriously tempted to just use the same template and format again. The thought of having two very similar …

Journaling Café: Celebrating the Season

It’s official now: Christmas season has started. At least in that part of the world where I come from. Yesterday, we lit the first candle on our advent wreaths, and with that the celebrations of the Christmas season twenty-twelve have begun. So, today I’ve compiled a list of journaling prompts that will help you preserve the memories of activities and things you do to celebrate this season. And here’s my page on one of the prompts: The font used for the prompts is my own handwriting font DJB Squirrels In My Pants by Darcy Baldwin (available at the Sweetshoppe).

This kit is for personal use, and if you want to share it with anyone, send them this way so they can snatch the downloads. And if you’re just stumbling upon this website, make sure you keep scrolling down to get the previous two parts of this serious. Hybrid Hub: Christmas Cards 2012, Part 1

I’ve been busy lately. Busy working on my Christmas cards this year. And I’m excited to share some of them with you over the next couple of weeks. So, here’s my first sample: Supplies used: White Christmas by Traci Reed & Meghan Mullens; card stock, ribbon     And since there’s so much to choose from, I’ll share another card with you: Supplies used: 12 Months December by Penny Springmann, card stock     And my last card for today: Supplies used: North Pole by Mari Koegelenberg, card stock, craft punches     If you haven’t gotten your hands dirty on creating cards, there’s tons of inspiration out on the www, and lots of simple ones, too. Like the ones I’ve been showing you today: they only require a little cutting of very simple shapes, pasting together, and they’re ready to warm someone’s heart this Christmas!

Enable Me: December Daily

Yesterday, I started talking about the  December Daily Project 2012. So, today would be a good time for me to take the opportunity and enable you with a couple of cool and helpful tools. Inspiration Of course, the #1 place to find inspiration would be Ali Edwards’ blog. She has a lot to say about making it work, and you can find a lot of awesome inspiration when you browse her blog, and she recently released a new set of templates for DD albums.   Templates Nettio Designs Since we are talking about templates already, templates are a great tool to speed up your scrapping, and there are a couple more template designers I’m aware of who have created products for a december daily project. Lynette (Nettio Designs) from the Sweetshoppe created a set of templates for a mini-album, which are perfect to help you jump start your project. She also posted some great DD inspiration on her blog. See her post on the Foundation Pages, her completed 2011 album with a couple of very …
