Fall Bake Sale 2016
Herbst Leckereien We had another bake sale today. As usual that meant: lots of yummy goodness, and far too much money spent on sweet treats and stuff. But of course, it’s all for a good purpose, so I might as well indulge myself just a little. Wir hatten mal wieder einen herbstlichen Backwarenverkauf. Wie immer heißt das: Viele Leckereien und viel zu viel Geld, das den Besitzer wechselt. Aber natürlich ist es alles für einen guten Zweck, und da darf man dann auch mal ein bisschen über die Strenge schlagen.
Beautiful Autumn
Herrlicher Herbst We’re still enjoying the most beautiful autumn since I moved here. So, I can’t help myself – in spite of being quite busy, I just have to get out there to capture the moments. And you’re lucky, because you can be part of it. Wir genießen immer noch den herrlichsten Herbst seitdem ich hierhergezogen bin. Deswegen kann ich mich auch einfach nicht zurückhalten: Auch wenn ich viel um die Ohren habe, finde ich immer noch ein paar Augenblicke rauszugehen und den Moment festzuhalten. Und ihr habt Glück, weil auch ihr daran teilhaben dürft.

Lobby Disasters
Eingangshallenkatastrophen It’s been a while, but I decided to try another blog post again. Because I actually like blogging. Because I haven’t been around here to say “Hi!” in like forever. Because I actually have a couple of spare minutes, for one. And because of the disaster that is worthwhile sharing with you here today. I call it the lobby disaster, even though it didn’t even start in our lobby. It actually started in our dining hall. Right during lunch time. A murky brown liquid came streaming into our dining hall, and while we were waiting in the lunch line, we were all wondering what the substance was. Sewer stuff? It didn’t smell like it. But it definitely didn’t look like anything I want to get close to. While I was hurrying to finish up my lunch before the stuff would reach the spot where I was sitting, I didn’t even have a clue that what we were seeing in the dining hall was just the tip of the iceberg. Actually Fall, Y’All!
Endlich mal Herbst These days we are so excited! Why? Because we’re actually having autumn. Like, a real autumn. One that you can see and feel and touch! One that brings crisp air, and at least a few of the colors that go along with it. My friends agree: It’s the best fall we’ve had in years! Oh, wir freuen uns! Warum? Weil es endlich mal Herbst ist. Ich mein, so richtig Herbst. Herbst wie es sich gehört: mit (fast) kalten Tagen und zumindest ein paar dazugehörigen Farben. Meine Freunde und ich sind uns einer Meinung: Es ist der beste Herbst seit Jahren!

Lieber Jetlag Dear Jetlag, I know you think you have every right to wreak havoc with me as I’m adjusting to a different time table again. You seem to find pleasure in the fact that you’re giving me sleepless nights (the third in a row, in fact), which then will be followed by days during which I don’t want to do anything else but sleep. Between My Worlds
Zwischen den Welten This is it! Once more I had to say good-bye to home and all that is part of who I am. Once more I’m about to face the familiar other world I call my home as well. The place that is so different and yet, has become so much part of my life. But first, I spent a good 20 hours in between those worlds. Up in the air, so to speak, and I’m looking forward to coming back home again. Das wars! Einmal mehr musste ich der Heimat und all dem, was mich ausmacht, auf Wiedersehen sagen. Wieder einmal gehts für mich in die vertraute Fremde, die andere Welt, die mir inzwischen auch Heimat geworden ist. Dort ist es so anders und doch ist auch das Teil meines Lebens. Aber erst einmal musste ich gute 20 Stunden zwischen diesen Welten verweilen. Hoch oben in den Wolken, einer eigenen Welt für sich. Und ich freue mich schon darauf, nach Hause zurückzukommen.
