Freebie Friday: A Grateful Heart, Part 3

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been sharing with you a Thanksgiving kit to help you scrap those November moments, and today, I’m happy to share with you the second part of the papers. This kit is for personal use, and if you want to share it with anyone, send them this way so they can snatch the downloads. And if you’re just stumbling upon this website, make sure you keep scrolling down to get the previous two parts of this serious.

Next week, I’ll start sharing the ellies with you, so don’t forget to come back for them, and until then I wish you happy scrapping, and happy Friday!

Hybrid Hub: Christmas Cards 2012, Part 1

I’ve been busy lately. Busy working on my Christmas cards this year. And I’m excited to share some of them with you over the next couple of weeks. So, here’s my first sample:

Noel

Supplies used: White Christmas by Traci Reed & Meghan Mullens; card stock, ribbon

Noel, detail

And since there’s so much to choose from, I’ll share another card with you:

Holly

Supplies used: 12 Months December by Penny Springmann, card stock

Holly, detail

And my last card for today:

Peace - Love - Joy

Supplies used: North Pole by Mari Koegelenberg, card stock, craft punches

Peace - Love - Joy, detail

If you haven’t gotten your hands dirty on creating cards, there’s tons of inspiration out on the www, and lots of simple ones, too. Like the ones I’ve been showing you today: they only require a little cutting of very simple shapes, pasting together, and they’re ready to warm someone’s heart this Christmas!

Getting Ready for the Season

I’ve been busy as of late. Busy for many reasons. The biggest factor to blame in all of it is the season, of course. The Christmas season. But I can’t really blame it all too much, because (as you’ve probably been able to find out by now) I love Christmas, and everything that comes with it. So, yes, I’ve been busy. Busy decorating my home. Busy making presents to give to those I care for. Busy also, making cards for Christmas, which I’ll send to far far away lands, to people of my own kin and country! But in all the busyness, I’m mostly busy enjoying myself in this season – together with my friends and students. So, to everyone who cares I wish a happy merry Christmas season!

Enable Me: December Daily

Yesterday, I started talking about the  December Daily Project 2012. So, today would be a good time for me to take the opportunity and enable you with a couple of cool and helpful tools.

Inspiration

Of course, the #1 place to find inspiration would be Ali Edwards’ blog. She has a lot to say about making it work, and you can find a lot of awesome inspiration when you browse her blog, and she recently released a new set of templates for DD albums.

Templates

Nettio Designs

Since we are talking about templates already, templates are a great tool to speed up your scrapping, and there are a couple more template designers I’m aware of who have created products for a december daily project.

Lynette (Nettio Designs) from the Sweetshoppe created a set of templates for a mini-album, which are perfect to help you jump start your project. She also posted some great DD inspiration on her blog.

See her post on the Foundation Pages, her completed 2011 album with a couple of very useful tips, and her post on the December Daily Nettio Style Round 2.

Sarah Gleason

Last year, I fell in love with Sarah Gleason’s template set Pear Tree, which not only comes with a full set of pages in varied sized, but also with a whole lot of extra stuff included to make your DD really special – trims, frames, word art, overlays, and anything else you could imagine to get your DD going. In the spring, I was lucky to win her full Pear Tree template set, so I’ve seen what’s in it, and I’m excited that I get to work with it on this year’s DD project.

Cindy Schneider

Cindy hasn’t really released a full set of templates of DD album, but this year, she whipped up a couple of products that will certainly complement any DD page: titles, date numbers, and word strips.

So, if you are still looking for some inspiration for you own project this year, maybe these are a couple of things you find helpful. Or just check out what the designers of your favorite digiscrap store have come up with. You may find what you need right there.

And of course, if you’ve come across some other products you’d like to share with us here, I’m sure me, and the other readers would appreciate it, if you could point us that way. For now, I’ll call it a day, and don’t forget to come up in a couple of days to pick up the next part of my digi-scrap kit “A Grateful Heart,” which I’ve been sharing with you here on this site.

Sweet Season

I’m excited! Because today I got to fill my advent calendar again. This year it’s filled with special goodies that I brought with me from Germany, specifically for this season. And now I don’t only have the pleasure of a few pieces of good chocolate every day, but also a sweet taste of home in a season when family and loved ones (who matter more this time of year) are far out of reach.

Sweet greetings for the season, everyone!

Document Your December: December Daily 2012

Wheee! December twenty-twelve is at hand (just a couple more days, yay!), and for many of us scrappers that means we are embarking on a new journey with the December Daily project. My 2011 DD was a blast, and so I’m super stoked to get going on this year’s album. In fact, I’ve been so eager to start that I began documenting the season with Thanksgiving (as I did last year) even though that seems a little early (yes, I can’t help it – I just love this season!).

Most of you, however, won’t start until December 1st, I’m sure, so there’s still a couple more days to get ready. And with the proper preparations, completing your DD 2012 can be a breeze. Really. Last year, I documented the process of creating this project with lots of  articles, how to’s, and inspiration, and I’m hoping to share more of what’s going on behind the scenes with my own project this year. But, since I don’t want to repeat myself, today I’m just going to hook you up with the links to some of my older posts, because some of them I find useful even now (as I was skimming over them), esp. if you are new to the DD project, or if you have a hard time staying on target or completing your project.

Documenting Your December the Easy Way

Probably the most helpful post on the topic was my article on TACKLING YOUR DECEMBER DAILY PROJECT last year. In that post I listed a lot of useful tips on the preparation process to prevent the DD project from turning into a painful catch-up race. But it also comes with useful tips and inspiration for seasoned DD-scrappers. So make sure to check out that post.

2011 Posts

And if you are looking for more specific tutorials etc. you might want to check out the December Daily Tag, where you can find all of my posts related to the DD project.

That’s it for now, but be sure to come back to check out the progress on my DD 2012, and get more tips and inspiration.

Christmas Time Is Here …

… and for me, that’s the happiest season of the year! After all, I get to invite my students and have them help me decorate my home. They get all excited about doing something they’ve never done in their whole lives, and I get to have the pleasure of enjoying their excitement as they examine the Christmas ornaments and learn about some of our various Christmas customs, and about the fact that Christmas apples, in fact, are a Chinese Christmas custom (not a Western custom as they assume).
