Traveler’s Notebook Layout: Beautiful Winter

Then I arranged the papers, Fotos, and other embellishments, and added the title. For the title I used card stock on which I’d previously watercolored. And I stamped the words. Here’s a video of how I created this page: DeutschIch habe ein neues Layout, das ich mit euch teilen möchte. Ich habe damit angefangen, dass ich den Hintergrund gestempelt habe. Dann habe ich die Papiere, Fotos und Elemente angeordnet und den Titel zugefügt. Für den Titel habe ich Tonkarton verwendet, auf dem zuvor Wasserfarbe aufgetragen habe. I’m still working with the paper pack “Winter Forest,” and I really wanted to create a design that spans the entire page, top to bottom. Because the paper is only 6×6 inches, but the page is 8 1/4 inches tall, it’s usually not possible. I dealt with this problem by creating a photo mat for the two photos, and the strip of patterned paper behind it is cut in two pieces and arranged at the top and the bottom. With my die cuts I added a bit of foliage behind the photo. The snowman I stamped on white card stock and then fussy cut it out. But the background is stamped directly on the page. The word strips were quickly added. For the title, I watercolored some white card stock, then cut the letters with one of my die cut alphas and tucked it next to the snowman. I began by cutting six squares of different sizes, and two rectangles, and roughed up the edges. I used my die cuts to cut out a label, a tag, the snowflakes, and the fern. For the title I used one of my stamp alphas and fussy cut it. And then all just needed to be arranged on the page. Ich habe sechs Quadrate von unterschiedlicher Größe ausgeschnitten und die Ränder aufgeraut. Mit Stanzen habe ich das Etikett, den Anhänger, die Schneeflocken und das Farnblatt ausgestanzt. Für den Titel habe ich eines meiner Stempelalphabete verwendet, und das Wort dann per Hand ausgeschnitten. Und dann musste alles nur auf der Seite angeordnet werden. EnglishWe went out e-biking, and the road took us to the riverside park nearby campus where we plopped ourselves in the grass and enjoyed the view. And enjoyed watching all the swimmers ignore the signs everywhere that say: No swimming! DeutschWir sind mit den Rollern losgezogen und es hat uns zu dem Park am Fluss gezogen, wo wir uns im Gras niederließen. Und es gab viel zu sehen. Nicht nur einen tollen Ausblick. Auch all die Schwimmer, die geflissentlich alle Warnschilder, die besagen, dass schwimmen verboten ist, ignorieren, bieten interessante Abbwechslung.

This one was a lot of fun to make, but if you look for making pages that aren’t too bulky, I recommend you don’t make a page like this that utilizes clothespins. Anyhow, I started by creating the various elements that would get added to this page. For the picture frame, I started with white cardstock that I painted lightly with watercolor, and cut to create a frame, then ran that through one of my embossing folders. The banner (which holds everything together) I created from various patterned papers that come with the paper pad “Winter Forest.” Then I arranged everything across the page. Because I needed to cut the banner in half in the middle, I used my hot glue gun to stick down the ends on each sides of the banner.
