With the holidays in full swing, and the students all gone, nothing much happens around here, except in the dining hall, where most of my interaction takes place these days. So, of course, I wasn’t much surprised the other day, when all of a sudden Santa Clause strayed into the dining hall when I had just sat down for dinner. Well, granted, he was a rather small-sized version of Santa, and I did prefer to call him Sam Clause, because he usually goes by the name of Sam (if he’s not occupied trying to fill Santa’s big boots that is). Sam Clause, however, wasn’t too happy with us calling him anything related to Santa, despite the evidence of the hat he was wearing, and when I asked him why not, he said, “I’m not Santa Clause, because I’m too little!” Ah, now that, you know, is a really good argument, I have to admit. And thinking about it now, who am I to argue with a witty little six-year old, even if looks a lot …
Who says you can only scrap the traditional way (if there is such a thing as “traditional” in digital scrapbooking)? Or with the trend of art journaling lately, pages tend to get all artsy and messy. Today, however, I would like to talk to you about a very different style of scrapbooking: magazine style. If you look at a magazine, you would probably notice certain key features that are typical for this kind of media: lots of text (comparatively, though you could argue that it depends on the magazine, I grant you that), little to no shadowing of pictures and elements, and title work that catches the eye. If we transfer that onto a scrapbooking layout, there would be three things you would really have to focus on: the photos, the text, and your title work. (Clustering lots of elements – doesn’t really work well for this, sorry for all of you who – like me – love to pile things onto their pages.) So, how does this really work on a scrapbooking …
Yes, yes, it’s coming a day late, but with the move of MistyHilltops.com and all, there wasn’t really much I could do. But now, I can actually take the time to wish everyone another happy new year! At least in my part of the world, we get to celebrate new year’s twice each year, and who doesn’t mind having an extra reason to celebrate? Anyhow, to all those who mind about Spring Festival, I wish a great and wonderful holiday season! PS. And don’t forget to eat your dumplings. PPS. Oh wait a minute. That was yesterday.
