Photo Challenge Day 13: Yourself with 13 Things
Squeezing myself in with about 13 things that have kept me occupied so far this week. Now, don’t make me list them all, because that pile was quite a mess!

Oh, I’ve neglected this little corner of the world lately, haven’t I? But I’ve been busy with classes, getting everything organized, and working on a fun mini book project that I’ll share with you once I’m getting it done. Promise! (If I ever get it done, lol)! And now, on to some enabling. I haven’t shared any free photoshop actions in quite a while, so it’s about time for another installment. You’ll find the download link to the right side of the web page.
I’ll admit it flat out: I love notebooks. If you’ve read my earlier post this year about this topic, you’ll know that China’s stores are filled with all sorts of various notebooks. Usually, I can control myself pretty well, though – I only get one when I really need it. The other day, however, I just really fell in love with a vintage style notebook. It’s got a French theme going on (Paris), and even something German. But what made me buy it in the end was the fact that it actually has a workable calendar. Workable as in: It has complete months, starting with September (which works fine for me as a teacher), though it ends with the month of June. I did end up getting confused with my other calendar/notebook which only had 28 days assigned to each month, so this one will make my life – as far as keeping track of appointments is concerned – a lot easier! Now, I’m a happy owner of a new notebook, and it even has …
Had to skip a couple of days, because I couldn’t do those challenges, but here’s today’s:
Here we go again: a new year of school with new students, a new schedule, new policies & procedures, new lesson plans, and lots of work! But I’m happy to get back to business as usual, and I’m excited to meet my new students; and they are excited because for the vast majority of them I’m the first foreigner they’ve ever talked to! Talking about students who are excited to be in class!

I got inspired again. This time by a page that was featured on pagemaps.com. I loved the composition and title work about this page, and that was the main focus of my page that I created based on this layout. Here’s my take on it:
Morning fog. I used to live in a part of the world where foggy mornings in October are not that unusual. And what’s great about them: they usually promise the dawn of a fine and sunny day. This morning, I woke up to a similar phenomenon. Except, we need to replace the word “fog” with “smog.” The air had started to fill with smoke like from a wild fire last night, penetrating even the buildings and our apartments; and only this morning did it dawn on me that the farmers are burning their leftover chaff and stuff from the harvest these days. Bad times for fresh air, and my eyes have been burning all day. Day 8: A Bad Habit By the way, I’m on day 8 of the photo challenge, and here’s my contribution for today: So, you’re asking me what the bad habit is? Weeelll, I usually don’t cook at home since I have three warm meals served for free each day. Dirty dishes pile up slowly – maybe a plate or a …
As of today, the Fall Semester 2011 has finally begun for the freshman students. In order to make up for Thursday’s and Friday’s classes, teachers and students have to attend classes on Saturday and Sunday, a common practice in China.
Here is where you can ‘unrecycle’ your rubbish! Note: When posting anything in the Fun with Chinglish section, I don’t mean to show disrespect towards anything or anyone in any way. I’m simply sharing the fun we get to have with all those great signs & documents!
