Around Town: Dressing Up the Campus

This weekend, all the students will be back for the classes which will start next Monday. So, as always with these occasions, the campus his been “dressed up.” After all, students will bring their parents or relatives, and for that the school should present itself in the best light. These days, there are flags everywhere on campus. The fountains and waterfall usually are turned on to show off the beauty of this place. Except … there is still a lot of construction going on. And those sites right now are far from pretty.

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 13

Today, I’ve got a cute little card, I’d like to share with you. The kit I used for this was “Animal Crackers” by Libby Pritchett & Tracey Howard, though I think it’s no longer available. Too sad that there is no real translation for the sentiment, which literally translated means “strong like a monkey,” and which usually is used to express something really great or exciting.

Food Corner: Cold Side Dishes

Cold side dishes are very common for almost any kind of restaurant in our area. Usually, the various dishes are displayed, and people pick and choose from what is offered. Often you can combine two or more sides that will be put on one plate. This particular plate was a mixture of pieces of tofu, green beans, steamed carrots and boiled peanuts.

Enable Me: Back To School Journal Inspiration

These days it’s all about back to school. Even I have my first lesson to teach today. And since I’m always glad when I can get some journal inspiration somewhere, some ideas about what to scrap, and what to talk about on my scrapbook layouts, I thought I’d share some journal inspiration with you today. And as school is starting back up, I think talking about life lessons would be a good idea. So, here are some journal prompts that maybe will get you inspired to record the lessons you, or your loved ones have learned recently: The font used here is DJB Third Grade Teacher by Darcy Baldwin.

Behind the Scenes: Creating Scalloped Mats

Of course, there are lots of free templates that offer scalloped mats, and lots of digiscrap kits come with scalloped mats for journaling, etc. Sometimes, however, you just need to create your own in order to meet your needs. Or searching for those shapes to use them for clipping masks can take up a lot of time, to. Today, therefore, I’m going to share how very simply and with little effort you can create your own scalloped mats. I’ll create a round mat, but you can do any other shape as well. Here’s how it works: Step 1: Create a Path If you are working on a layout already, simply add a new layer (windows key + shift + N) to your canvas (or open a new canvas and add a new layer. Choose the shape tool (I picked the Ellipse Tool for the round shape), and make sure you select the path option (at the top right of your photoshop screen).           Holding the shift key, draw a circle. Step …

Monday Highlight: Back to School

For lots of people these days it means “Back to School.” Even I am about to begin classes again, even though the new semester hasn’t officially started yet. So I think it’s about time to talk a little about scrapping school memories. Being a teacher myself, I can never get enough of school related products, as there’s always something school related to scrap about, and I have a growing stash of school kits. There are tons of great products out, and this post would be a never-ending one, would I begin to list all of them here. Therefore, I’m going to reduce myself to just a couple of my favorite ones. The layout above actually uses a collection of all kinds of kits that I have, some retired, some still very well out on the market. It probably is one of my most elaborate pages I’ve ever done, even using some of my own extractions. The majority of papers and elements, however, comes from Explore. Learn. Grow. by Sahlin Studio over at the Lilypad. Always …

Construction Zone

As the new semester is drawing near, there are construction zones everywhere around the foreign teacher’s building. With the increasing number of students, walkways need to be broadened so that there is enough capacity for everyone to move along swiftly. And since there is no alternative to get to those places, everyone has to use those walkways while work is in progress!

Treasure Sunday: Get Up

I’ve got a new favorite that I’d like to share here with you. It’s a rather simple page, but it is that simplicity that speaks to me, together with the photo, the idea of creating a book of wisdom and how everything is put together. “P52 – Book of Wisdom – Week 11” by carollee I also love the little beach cluster, how she put the date, and I’ve been studying the shadows of the little label that make it look quite real! And of course, being someone who collects quotes and proverbs, I simply had to pick this page for today.
