Behind the Scenes: Goals 2011

Let’s talk about our goals for 2011 today. I’m sure, everyone has goals that they want to reach, things they want to accomplish, hopes and dreams for the new year. Usually, I don’t like to think too much about goals, because my philosophy is: if you realize you need to change something or do something different or accomplish something, start today instead of waiting for the next year to come. Still, I think the turn of the year is a great time to reflect on the past and make some resolutions for the new year. So, this year, I decided to turn my goals into a layout, and here’s what I came up with: As I was brainstorming for this page, I realized that I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in 2011. And there are things I wish for, hopes I have, dreams. So, I decided I’ll put everything together into one page instead of making different pages for each of those categories. What’s New

January is upon us and that means a whole set of new challenges for the portfolios over at SSD. Many of the challenges are great prompts to scrap those beginning-of-the-year, new-year-resolutions, etc. reflections and memories. So, don’t forget to hop over there and sign up for your own portfolio this month, as you will be rewarded with some great coupons depending on how much of the challenges you were able to complete. Also, the new Digi Files #25 are out, and this month they are doing something a little special over at the Daily Digi. Treasure Spotting: 2011

Time for the treasure hunt again, and this week was really hard for me to narrow it down to my favorite layout, but I finally did: “2011” by MissMinx Of course, the first thing to catch the eye are the adorable photos. The hat thing going on here is too cute! But it’s also her photo treatment, the choice of colors (gray with some pops of red), her composition, basically everything about this layout makes it stand out!

Welcome 2011! I hope you all had a great time celebrating the new year! For us here, New Year’s isn’t much of a big deal, though the students get about two days off class! But since the Chinese New Year is still to come, no one pays much attention to the solar calendar new year as it is celebrated in so many other places in the world. So, instead of having lots of parties and students being out all night, New Year’s Eve is pretty much a day like every other day. Though some of my colleagues attempted to shoot off fireworks at midnight. Other than that it was a quiet night. Except that one of my neighbors’ door was broken and he couldn’t get into his apartment by the time I got back from my get-together with friends last night. And it was the workers coming to fix it which woke me up sometimes after eight this morning. So, you see, New Year’s here is basically just like any other day! Happy New Year, …
