Totalp Hike – Day 1 | Totalp Wanderung – Tag 1

I’m back in the mountains. This time brother-in-law, nephew, and buddy are my hiking companions. We decided to check out the Austrian Alps, though we’re not far from the German border, and the Swiss border will be just the reach of an arm away as you will see.Our destination today will be the Totalp Cabin where we’ve booked lodging to stay overnight. (The Alps can be busy this time of year, and it pays off to book well in advance.)We get there by car, which we park at the valley station of the cable car.But we don’t take the cable car. As we have the entire day ahead of us, and taking the cable car will only save us an hour or so, we take to the trails right from the start. Ich bin zurück in den Bergen. Zeeland Highlights – Part 5

Middelburg, Westkapelle, Zierikzee More picturesque towns and places in Zeeland are the towns Middelburg, Westkapelle with its lighthouse, and Zierikzee. Weitere hübsche Städtchen in Zeeland sind die Orte Middelburg, Westkapelle mit seinem Leuchtturm und Zierikzee.             Westkapelle In Westkapelle we took to the bikes again und rode along the dyke until we got to the lighthouse, which could be seen from afar. In Westkapelle holten wir unsere Fahrräder hervor und fuhren auf dem Deich entlang bis zum Leuchtturm, der schon lange sichtbar war.             Seal Trip | Seerobbentour From Zierikzee we also started our seal watching tour. It was advertised as a sailing trip, but no sails were set. Still, it was a lovely trip, and we did get to see the seals. Von Zierikzee aus ging es auch auf Seerobbentour. Eigentlich hatten wir eine Segeltour gebucht, aber die Segel wurden nicht ausgefahren. Es war trotzdem ein netter Trip, und die Robben haben wir auch gesehen.                   …

Vlissingen, Breskens, Goes Here you can see some of the highlights from our trips to Vlissingen, Breskens, and Goes. Hier könnt ihr ein paar der Highlights von unseren Touren nach Vlissingen, Breskens und Goes sehen.           Breskens To get to Breskens, we had to take the ferry. We had bikes with us, so we parked the car in the center of Vlissingen, then took the bikes on the ferry and explored Breskens on bike.The highlight in Breskens was the lighthouse. Um nach Breskens to kommen, mussten wir die Fähre nehmen. Wir haben das Auto im Stadtzentrum von Vlissingen gelassen, und sind mit den Fahrrädern per Fähre nach Breskens übergesetzt, das wir mit dem Fahrrad erkundet haben.Highlight von Breskens war der Leuchtturm.                        

Zeeland Highlights – Part 1

My sister took me on a trip to Zeeland, and I will be sharing some of the highlights. Meine Schwester hat mich auf  eine Reise nach Zeeland mitgenommen, und ich werde ein paar der Highlights mit euch teilen:             Lodging | Unterkunft Our accommodations turned out to quite a surprise. We had planned the trip very last minute, so we couldn’t find a place to stay. The only available lodgings we found were these cabins in the marina Zandkreekweg in Wolphartsdijk. It’s our opinion that these cabins were well understated in the ad we saw. It’s true that inside these cabins are very simple – 2 bunk beds, a table and chairs. And bathrooms are in a central location on the venue. Unsere Unterkunft hielt eine Überraschung für uns bereit. Da wir die Reise zu kurzfristig geplant hatten, standen kaum Unterkünfte zur Verfügung. Die einzigen Unterkünfte, die wir noch fanden, waren diese Blockhütten im Jachthafen Zandkreekweg in Wolphartsdijk. Unserer Meinung nach, sind die bei AirBnB ziemlich unscheinbar beworben. Good-bye Switzerland | Auf Wiedersehen Schweiz

After wonderful days with dear people, it’s time to say good-bye to Switzerland. We did that with one more trip into the mountains, which turned out rather rainy. Once off the mountain, though, the weather quickly improved, and by the time we reached the border to Germany summer had us back again. Nach wundervollen Tagen mit lieben Menschen ist es Zeit, der Schweiz auf Wiedersehen zu sagen. Wir taten das mit einem letzten, sehr verregneten Abstecher in die Berge.Einmal von den Bergen runtergekommen, wurde das Wetter schnell besser. Und als wir die Grenze nach Deutschland erreichten, hatte der Sommer uns schon wieder.
