Israel 2.0 – Sea of Galilee | See Genezareth

Betiha Nature Reserve Our first stop of the day was the Betiha Nature Reserve (north of the Sea of Galilee and included in the Israel Pass). We felt it wasn’t much of a site, but a fun fact is that you can walk through the stream for part of the way through the park. The water was pretty cold when we walked through it and may not be for the fainthearted. Unser erster Stopp des Tages war das Betiha Naturreservat (nördlich vom See Genezareth und einer der Punkte des Israelpasses).  Wir fanden es war nicht das sehenswerteste Ziel. Aber etwas Besonders war, dass man Teile der Strecke durch den Park im Flussbett durchwaten konnte. Israel 2.0 – Megiddo

From Tel Aviv we set out in the morning. Megiddo is our first stop of the day, and we take a couple of hours to explore the ancient site. Von Tel Aviv gehts am Morgen los. Nach Megiddo, wo wir uns ein paar Stunden Zeit für die antike Stätte nehmen.             Here in Megiddo, it’s as we want to pay the entrance fee in the little shop that the clerk informs us about the Israel Pass. It’s a ticket book valid for 14 days upon first usage and comes in 3 options – choose to visit 3, 6, or all sites. The full version offers dozens of sites in Israel which can all be visited for free. It’s not very cheap to purchase, but in the end you save a ton of money compared to paying all entrance fees individually.In the end, this ticket book has helped us getting to know Israel from a viewpoint that we hadn’t seen yet. We ended up visiting places we never even knew existed. …

Israel 2.0 – Tel Aviv & Old Yafo

We’re back in Israel. And once again, our trip starts in Tel Aviv. After spending a little time at the beach, we wait for the heat to cool off again before we go exploring Old Yafo. Wir sind zurück in Israel und unsere Reise beginnt in Tel Aviv. Nachdem wir ein bisschen Zeit am Strand verbracht haben, warten wir bis die Hitze des Tages abkühlt, um uns dann in Jaffa umzusehen.                   We end our day in the harbor below old Yafo, which seems to be a hip place to be with lots of eateries and free wifi. Wir beenden den Tag im Hafen unterhalb von Jaffa, der ziemlich angesagt zu sein scheint. Es gibt viele Lokale und Wifi.

Day 2 of our hike begins with the most glorious sunrise which I watch from the window of my dorm. After a regular breakfast we set out. This hike is a bit more demanding. Some parts of the trail are a bit more exposed, and it’s definitely not the kind of hike for the untrained person. Being able to handle heights is just as useful as being steady footed. Tag 2 unserer Wanderung beginnt mit dem herrlichsten Sonnenaufgang, den ich vom Fenster meiner Unterkunft erleben darf.Nach einem regulären Frühstück geht’s bald darauf los. Eine anstrengende Wanderung liegt vor uns mit einigen exponierten Stellen. Diese Route ist nichts für den ungeübten Wanderer. Schwindelfreiheit sind genauso hilfreich wie Trittsicherheit.                                 Walking right past the border to Switzerland, we eventually make it to the summit of Schesaplana. Totalp Hike – Day 1 | Totalp Wanderung – Tag 1

I’m back in the mountains. This time brother-in-law, nephew, and buddy are my hiking companions. We decided to check out the Austrian Alps, though we’re not far from the German border, and the Swiss border will be just the reach of an arm away as you will see.Our destination today will be the Totalp Cabin where we’ve booked lodging to stay overnight. (The Alps can be busy this time of year, and it pays off to book well in advance.)We get there by car, which we park at the valley station of the cable car.But we don’t take the cable car. As we have the entire day ahead of us, and taking the cable car will only save us an hour or so, we take to the trails right from the start. Ich bin zurück in den Bergen. Zeeland Highlights – Part 5

Middelburg, Westkapelle, Zierikzee More picturesque towns and places in Zeeland are the towns Middelburg, Westkapelle with its lighthouse, and Zierikzee. Weitere hübsche Städtchen in Zeeland sind die Orte Middelburg, Westkapelle mit seinem Leuchtturm und Zierikzee.             Westkapelle In Westkapelle we took to the bikes again und rode along the dyke until we got to the lighthouse, which could be seen from afar. In Westkapelle holten wir unsere Fahrräder hervor und fuhren auf dem Deich entlang bis zum Leuchtturm, der schon lange sichtbar war.             Seal Trip | Seerobbentour From Zierikzee we also started our seal watching tour. It was advertised as a sailing trip, but no sails were set. Still, it was a lovely trip, and we did get to see the seals. Von Zierikzee aus ging es auch auf Seerobbentour. Eigentlich hatten wir eine Segeltour gebucht, aber die Segel wurden nicht ausgefahren. Es war trotzdem ein netter Trip, und die Robben haben wir auch gesehen.                   …
