Hot Chocolate Days
Today is one of those “Hot Chocolate Days,” one of those days when it’s better to stay inside and snuggle up in a soft blanket and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. I did enjoy my cup of hot chocolate this afternoon, but only after I wrapped up my camera into a plastic bag and took a stroll out in the rain. Got lots of pictures taken, though the rain just about stopped when I stepped outside. Will have to hope for a little more rain these days, to get some actual rain pics. At least the rain has finally started after a really dry winter and an also much too try spring!
Around Town: To the Rape Fields
April is certainly the season for the oilseed rape to be in bloom here. So, some of us love to take our bikes out (or rent bikes), to go for rides into the fields behind the school. Being amidst the bright yellow flowers surely makes me happy, every time a get a chance to get out!
Places to Go: Beijing Zoo
Located in the heart of Beijing, the zoo has two attractions worth visiting: the giant panda exhibit, and the aquarium, which is the largest in China. Both zoo and aquarium combined provide room for more than 900 species of land and marine animals, several of which are counted among endangered species of animals. Besides its display of animals, the Beijing Zoo also presents itself in the typical way of Chinese classical gardens. You will find small rivers and pools, wooded areas, flower beds, natural sceneries, and historical buildings.
Spring Blossoms
I couldn’t help myself! I had to get out and capture the beauty of spring yet again!
Golden Spring
Can you tell I love spring? We had the most glorious weather over the weekend (though maybe a bit chilly at times), so I couldn’t help myself. I had to get my camera out yet once more. And I truly had a golden time …
Spring Abundance
Around Town: Discovering Spring
Though it has been rather chilly, lately, spring is in full swing. The other day the sun came out and it was such a gorgeous day, that I decided to get my camera out and do some discovering. Even though it’s still a bit early, I did find what I was looking for and I’m sharing it with you today:
Saturday Feature: Spring Storms
They call autumn the season of storms in other places. Spring is supposed to be the nice, sunny season. And that is true here for the most part as well. But spring in these parts of China also means, lots of storms, too. As the seasons are changing and the temperatures shift back and forth between cold and warm – the result is lots of wind. We had one such a storm just the other day. All night long the winds swept through our building, playing havoc with the unoccupied upper floor of our house, slamming doors over and over again. There can be windy days like this until March, but the good news is, we still get some really beautiful weather in spring, too!
First Signs of Spring
I found them – the first signs of spring. They are sprouting everywhere – the weekend was warm like an early summer day, and everywhere nature is preparing to spring back to life again. Yesterday, we went to the mountain, and look what I found among all the yet bare branches and trees …
