Inspire Me: 2011 Calendar

2011 is still young and fresh, and of course – it being a new year – it’s the perfect timing to talk about calendars. For us digiscrappers, the easiest thing to do is create our own little calendars – making use of some of those wonderful pictures we took throughout the past year, and turning them into a monthly showcase. Wanting to use our digiscrap supplies, there are lots of tools the designers put out to help us with the task of creating our very own, personalized calendars. Let me highlight just a few of them: Cindy Schneider has quite a stash of them in her store, so you might want to check them out, especially since some of them come with a special price if you get them in a bundle. Zoe has a couple of goodies, and of course Libby Pritchett has her own template set. So, last week I sat down to create my own calendar inspired by Cindy’s template set. And here’s what I came up with:

Inspire Me: December Daily

Hello, December Daily lovers. As we are approaching mid-December (only about ten more days until Christmas!!!), and as there are tons of people out there participating in the December Daily project, I thought, I’d hook you up with some inspiration. I started my own December Daily album (and I’m pretty much caught up with each day, yay for that!), and whoever does a somewhat larger crafts project is always glad for inspiration. Probably the No. 1 place to go is the Flickr group Ali Edwards started herself, where everyone participating can upload their photos. It’s a well-spring of inspiration (new photos are uploaded basically by the minute!) and I love flipping through the pages in search for ideas for my own album. OTS has some tips on how to Tackle a DD project. Of course, Ali Edwards (the inventor of the DD) is a wonderful source of information as well. Check out her website as she takes you step by step through her process of creating an album. And my last contribution to getting you …

Inspire Me: Advent Calendar

I kept promising you my special treat, and today, finally, the day has come! My first, very own advent calendar. Even though I’m a little too old for something like an advent calendar myself, I’ve always loved having one, and this year, I decided getting one again, after years of going without one. Now, with all the fabulous scrapbook kits I’ve collected over the last year (and especially with my weakness for Christmas kits – I have tons of them and still have more on my wishlist!), I wanted to have a paper based advent calendar for which I could use my digiscrap stuff. Whatever it was going to be, I wanted to make sure it would be large enough to hold some snacks and candies (I got a lot of good European treats from friends that I wanted to use for this). Most important, however, I wanted to be able to store it easily for re-use next year, without it ending up taking a lot of storage space. So, I went on an online …

Inspire Me: December Daily

Just the other day I came across a project on Ali Edwards‘ blog: the December Daily. It is an album project that documents the 25 days leading up to Christmas and I immediately fell in love with this concept. What Ali does is create 25 pages for a Christmas album. She does all the preparations for that album before December 1, so that when the month begins, she can simply enjoy the season, and keep a record of what happens every day in December. Since everything has been prepared beforehand, all she needs to do on the daily basis is add photos and journaling to her pages, and the result is a beautiful record of the Christmas season with her family. Go check out her album project from last year to get inspired HERE. For some inspiration on how to get started for this year, click HERE. As soon as I saw her albums from 2009 & 2008, I was hooked, and I wish we would commemorate the season here like they do in other …
