… And Peace on Earth

… und Friede auf Erden Check out the Christmas card I got the other day. At first glance it looks like a pretty good Christmas card – lovely design, nice wish. Until you get to the bottom part of it, the small print. What fighting has to do with peace on earth and the Christmas spirit quite eludes me. Fortunately, this wasn’t the only Christmas card for me. Seht mal die Weihnachtskarte, die ich kürzlich bekommen habe. Auf den ersten Blick sieht sie wie eine ziemlich gute Weihnachtskarte aus. Erst als ich ganz unten das Kleingedruckte sah, musste ich stutzen. Denn ehrlich gesagt, was Kämpfen mit Friede auf Erden und Weihnachtsstimmung zu tun hat ist mir ein Rätsel. (Übersetzung: Kämpfe für das, was dir wichtig ist. Es lohnt sich.) Zum Glück war das nicht meine einzige Weihnachtskarte.

So geht’s doch … Since it’s almost Christmas,  and since Christmas is the season of peace, love, and happiness, I thought I’d delight you with another one of my colleague’s/friend’s little notes. And he’s right. With exams and all, we definitely can use a little cheer! Da es schon fast Weihnachten ist, und da Weihnachten die Zeit der Liebe, des Friedens, und des Frohsinns ist, dachte ich, ich erfreue euch wieder mal mit einer weiteren kleinen Textnachrichten eines Freundes/Kollegen von mir. Und er hat ja recht: Mit den Prüfungen und allem, können wir wirklich jede Aufmunterung gebrauchen!

Oh Tannenbaum – Mal Wieder The school’s Christmas tree is always worth a little story. And while it’s usually the world’s ugliest Christmas tree, I can’ complain, because at least we have a Christmas tree. For those of you who’ve been around a while, you might have seen picture’s of the tree in previous years. Like this one: Der Weihnachtsbaum unserer Uni ist immer eine Geschichte wert. Und während er eigentlich immer der häßlichste Weihnachtsbaum der Welt ist, kann ich mich nicht beklagen. Denn immerhin hat unsere Uni einen Baum. Diejenigen von euch, die schon länger dabei sind, haben vielleicht auch schon mal die Bilder aus früheren Jahren gesehen. Bastelecke: Krippenszene It’s actually supposed to be a Christmas card. I got it HERE from the Silhouette store during the recent sale. Eigentlich ist sie als Weihnachtskarte gedacht. Ich habe diese Krippenszene kürzlich HIER im Silhouette Store gekauft.     But when I bought it, I didn’t have a Christmas card in mind. I was hoping that with a few tweaks I might turn it into a decorative element to adorn my home. And I was right. All I needed to do is blow this design up to fill the A4 paper size that I have, and the result is really adorable. I actually made this project for a dear friend of mine. But when I saw the result, I really knew, I’m going to get my own nativity scene as soon as I have the time for it. Last week, I came across some really cute Christmas ornaments that I couldn’t wait to try out myself. Turns out, these don’t just look fabulous, they’re also super easy to make, and almost guarantee instant success.
