Well, my blog is up and running since the beginning of this month, and as I’m still trying to get into a routine of posting certain topics on a weekly basis, let me introduce you to the newest feature – the Monday Highlight.
Each Monday I will focus on one scrapbook product from my stash, point out some of its features and show you what I’ve done with it. So, for our very first ever “Monday Highlight” let’s take a look at …
Wonderful
by Melissa Bennett
I fell in love with this kit as soon as I saw the new release in the store a couple of weeks ago at SSD. Maybe the no. 1 thing I love about “Wonderful”* is the color palette, ranging from light blues to different shades of gray with pops of soft pinks and reds in there. Next, I totally fell for those paper rosettes, which have become very popular recently and make beautiful clusters on any layout, and I love the two doodled paper flowers just as much. The vellum leaves caught my eye as well as the old pocket watch, and while I was working with this kit just yesterday, I realized that the brown ribbon looks awesome on the page. Well, instead of rambling about the obvious, how about I show you the two pages I created with it? Here is “Forbidden City” & “Facing Time”:
You can check out each individual page here:
I love how this kit so perfectly matches the colors of my photos from the Forbidden City (I didn’t even realize that at the time I bought “Wonderful”*), and you can see how you can create fabulous clusters with using those rosettes.
For the title and the tag (right page) I used the same journal card as on the left page, and just clipped it to those two shapes (the tag originally is from Julie Billingsley’s “Oodles of Tags”*).
Generally speaking, I wanted to create a double page spread of our recent visit to the Forbidden City, and while I wanted to be able to use a lot of photos, I also wanted to showcase the kit, so I decided to make one page a little more heavy on photos, while on the other page I was able to use some more of Melissa’s papers.
Check This Out!
So, I had already decided last night that I would use this double page spread for today’s Monday Highlight, when this morning I found out that “Forbidden City” was chosen for the Gallery Standouts Blog (GSO) yesterday – even more reason to put it in the spotlight here today!
