It’s finally here! My most favorite time of the year! And that means I’m already well into my Christmas album for this year. I actually started early this time around, because I wanted to start sharing the mini album that I’m using for this as cut files. So, the album itself has been sitting around for a couple of months, until the season finally begins.

Es ist endlich an der Zeit! Die schönste Zeit des Jahres hat endlich begonnen. Und das bedeutet, dass ich auch schon mein Weihnachtsalbum in Arbeit habe. Dieses Jahr habe ich sogar früh damit angefangen, da ich das Album ja hier als Freebie teile. Also war das Album an sich schon vor ein paar Monaten fertig.

I didn’t really want to start embellishing this album much ahead of time, because I want to decide how I fill it depending on what happens that day.

Some pages of this album will have pockets, and so that can be handled flexibly. But I also want to mix things up a bit, and not only work with pockets, but also embellish the actual pages. I have all these layout options, but which option I choose depends mostly on how many photos I take that day. So, for the most part this album will be filled as each day passes.

Nur wollte ich noch nicht anfange, die Seiten vorzeitig zu dekorieren, denn ich will dann entscheiden, wie eine Seite ausssehen soll, nachdem ich weiß, was an dem Tag so los gewesen ist.

Ein paar Seiten in meinem Album werden Taschen und Einsteckfächer haben. Aber ich möchte auch ein bisschen Abwechslung im Album haben, und nicht nur mit Fächern arbeiten, sondern die Seiten auch anders dekorieren. Immerhin gibt es viele Möglichkeiten, dieses Album zu gestalten, wie ihr hier sehen könnt.

However, I have started working on the first couple of pages, because they all have pockets, and as I said: pocket pages can be handled flexibly. So, I gave myself a little head start, and started working on the first week of this album.

Aber ich habe schon mit den ersten Seiten des Albums angefangen, weil die alle Einsteckfächer haben werden, und wie gesagt, Einsteckfächer bieten Flexibilität.

Starting with Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving macht den Anfang

Neither where I come from, nor where I live Thanksgiving is a holiday of any kind. But since many of my colleagues come from the States, it’s sort of become a tradition, even for me, to have a nice dinner for Thanksgiving. Usually, the following Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent, and where I come from it marks the official beginning of the holiday season. And obviously, I’d like to have my home ready and decorated before the actual season begins. So, I’ve made it a tradition to decorate my home the weekend after Thanksgiving. That also means, that for me the Christmas season begins before December 1st. That’s why I prefer to have my albums start before December, because a big part of the traditions (that I like to capture with my albums) is the getting ready for the season. So, I usually start my Christmas albums with the day of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving ist ja weder wo ich herkomme, noch wo ich jetzt wohne ein Feiertag. Aber da viele meiner Kollegen aus den Staaten kommen, ist es auch für mich quasi zur Tradition geworden, ein schönes Thanksgiving Dinner zu haben. Und da in Deutschland am Sonntag danach ja gleich der 1. Advent stattfindet, gehts es ja mit der Weihnachtszeit dann schon los. Und natürlich möchte ich auch das Dekorieren meiner Wohnung in meinem Album festhalten, da das ja Teil der Traditionen sind, so ziehe ich es vor, mein Weihnachtsalbum mit Thanksgiving anzufangen, und das findet nunmal vor dem 1. Dezember statt. Also sind meine Alben eben keine richtigen December Dailies, sondern fangen eigentlich schon im November an.
