Admitted: yesterday I promised that today I would tell you about what I recently did using all my Christmas kits, but at the time I didn’t realize that I actually confused the order of posts. So, instead I will take you “Behind the Scenes” again today and I hope you don’t mind waiting until tomorrow to find out more about my Christmas goodies!
Let’s take a look at “Rejoice” today:
Here’s what I did …
The challenge for this layout actually was to use two digi-scrap kits and combine them (a challenge posted by Kristin Cronin-Barrow in the SSD thread for International Scrapbook Day).
I used a template by Cindy Schneider (SSD), and took two kits, “Serenity” by Zoe Pearn and “Naturally You” by KCB to work with. Using a template of any kind always helps a lot, though I really like to make them my “own”! I do that by adding a few extra embellishments, changing the order of layers, etc.
For this page in particular, I added a few scatters (one to the right side of the photo and one at the bottom). What I love about scatters is that they easily give the page a richer, fuller feel, more dimension. So, when your page sometimes looks like it still is missing something, try to add a scatter of some sort. It might do miracles!
Also, I used more ribbons instead of paper strips, since both kits come with a good selection of those. However, whether you use ribbons or papers for strips – both are fine to work with, so it’s simply a question about your preference!
Lastly for today, I want to draw your attention to the photo corners. I love to use photo corners, whether on the actual photo itself or on papers – they usually look great on any page! (In fact, I sometimes find it easier to work with photo corners than with actual frames as frames can take a lot of space on a page and seem to be distracting.) Cindy’s template actually came with these photo corners so it was an easy thing: just clip your choice of paper to them and there you go.
Sometimes, if a kit doesn’t provide any photo corners, I simply go search my stash, drag them onto my page, clip papers to them or re-color them to meet my needs, and the possibilities with these are endless!
