Enable Me: Glitter Styles

What is Christmas without the magic … and the glitter? Of course, when scrapping, we want to capture the wonders of the moment, and with our pages we try to preserve as much of the magic as possible. Using glitter accents on scrapbook pages isn’t anything new. A lot of designers offer glitter backgrounds, glitter elements, glitter word art, and whatever else you can think of that glitters. Some of them even offer glitter styles for purchase. Today, however, I bring you some glitter styles for free. Actually, the web is full of free styles and actions that you can just download onto your computer (thanks to the generosity of their creator). All you need to do is search the internet a bit, and you’ll find tons of great stuff. But today, and since it’s Christmas season and all, I’ve made your search a little easier. Just click on the image above to get to the corresponding website from where you can easily download these glitter styles.

Behind the Scenes: How to Create Custom Shaped Text Paths

If you’ve seen my recent posts, you’ve probably stumbled across my December Daily pages. If you took the time to look at one or two, you might have noticed how the journaling wraps neatly around all the embellishments without really interfering with them. Today, I’m going to show you how to create such a text path that is customized to wrap around your elements and clusters. (This is useful not only for December Daily projects, but for any layout that requires a custom shaped text field.)   In this tutorial you will learn how to … …  make a customized selection (based on your element and text layers); … contract your selection; and … turn your selection into a text path.   Here’s How It Works …   STEP 1 | Duplicate and Merge Layers Assuming that you’ve already put together your layout, including all the embellishments and element clusters you have wanted to add, go with your cursor to the layers panel, and select all the layers that you want your text to wrap …

Journaling Café: Christmas Preparations

Christmas season has officially started, and for most of us that means lots of preparations need to be made. Today’s journaling prompts are all about those preparations. Sometimes we can get so focused on documenting those special moments in our lives that we tend to forget to record that part that has to do with the everyday little things, and yet, it’s those little preparations that help so much to make our special moments unforgettable. I hope these prompts will help to inspire your journaling this week, and enjoy telling your stories! Treasure Sunday: December 4th

Sundays are happy days, because it means I get to go treasure hunting again, and look what I found today … PS I Love You by Lu Martins Starting off today’s quest with this gem. I love how this page looks quite cluttered, and yet, it doesn’t overwhelm me with all that’s going on there. It’s so much fun to discover all the details, the doodles and stitches, and all the various elements and clusters. Autumn by Natalka Ok, so this page doesn’t actually use any scrapbook products, and yet I totally love it. That the photos are absolutely stunning, is pretty much a given, but I just love the very clean and simple design, the blocking, and the title and journaling is so pretty. Smile Sunshine by mom2twoangels This page just makes me happy looking at it. I love the cluster, the splatters of color in the background, and the photo is such a fun picture, too! Hybrid Hub: Card No. 23 – Merry Christmas

It’s that time of the year again. My favorite season! And in honor of the season, today’s hybrid post – of course – has to be a Christmas themed one. This one is the latest card I created with Julie Billingsley’s “A Frosty Christmas.” The holly leaves on the label I found among my Photoshop Custom Shapes, and for the sentiment, I simply used one of the fonts on my computer. Here you can take a closer look at this card:

Tackling Your December Daily Project

December 1st is at hand, and for many of us this means embarking on a new journey with the December Daily project. I started a huge hybrid album last year which isn’t anywhere near finished (and I don’t see myself finishing it this year as I’m far too busy with real life at the moment), so for this season, I decided to take a simpler approach. I’m creating a digital album.   Simplicity Is Key The goal for most of us is to keep things simple, and yet to create albums that we’ll enjoy looking at even years from now. I already started my 2011 project last week, and I’m quite pleased with the outcome. But before I started, I sat down and thought through a couple of things that now prove to be very helpful as I’m further into the project, and I thought I’d share some of these considerations with you … TIP NO. 1 | Choosing the Right Format Choosing a format for your project is one key to avoid having …

Behind the Scenes: Turning Text Into An Outline

Did you ever wonder how to turn text into an outline? Well, I have the answer for you, in this new quick and easy tutorial. The Background Story (you can skip this part, if you’re only interested in the tutorial) I’ve started working on my December Daily project for this year, and I decided to go with the inspiration by Ali Edwards. She created a set of 6×8 overlays to use as foundation pages. I really like that style for my own album this year. The only problem: The size. Living outside the US, we just don’t have letter sized paper, and for printing purposes it would be really impractical for me to use her set of overlays. So I decided to create my own overlays – quite similar to hers (I only added a month field to the date corner, because my project already starts in November). Looking at Ali’s set, I really love how the letters overlap, and simply rasterizing the type doesn’t do the trick to retain that overlapping. So I had …

Journaling Café: Thanksgiving Part II.

It’s official now: Christmas season has started. At least in Germany, yesterday was the first of the four advent Sundays. That does make things official. I, on the other hand, decided to stick with the Thanksgiving theme a little longer for today’s journaling post. There’s just too much to be thankful for, or to journal about – when it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday. So take a look at today’s journaling prompts: I hope you’ll find something in these prompts to inspire your journaling this week, and enjoy telling your story!
