We set out right after breakfast, because today we have a big goal – hiking up Monte Capanne, the highest mountain of the island.
The niece drives us up a tiny road that has hardly room for two cars to pass. We park near the butterfly trail, and then begin our hike up the mountain, first following the butterfly trail, and then further up.

Gleich nach dem Frühstück geht es los zum Zentrum der Insel. Das Ziel: den Monte Capanne hinaufzuwandern, den höchsten Berg der Insel. Die Nichte fährt uns die winzige Bergstraße hinauf, wo es oft kaum Platz für 2 Fahrzeuge hat. At some point we’re not quite sure which trail to follow, walk along one trail for a while to discover we’re wrong, turn around and then follow the other trail further up the mountain.

Irgendwann wissen wir nicht so genau, welchem Pfad wir weiter folgen sollen. Erst wählen wir den falschen Weg, dann geht’s weiter den Berg hinauf.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When the trail turns to rocks, and rocks get really steep, we decide to take a break, and call it quits and turn back.

Als der Weg beschwerlich wird, ruhen wir uns aus und finden dann, dass wir für den Tag genug gewandert sind.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since it’s only just around lunch time, we decide to go back to the niece’s favorite spot – the shipwreck near Pomonte to spend the rest of the afternoon there.
On our way, we pass the town of Seccheto, which has some really picturesque views.

Es ist erst mittag, darum beschließen wir, zum Lieblingsort der Nichte zurückzukehren – dem Schiffswrack bei Pomonte.
Auf dem Weg dorthin passieren wir den Ort Seccheto, der sehr malerisch ist.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Because our old parking spot is taken, we have to take the one a little further up the road and discover it’s a far better place to park our van. So, we decide to stay here until the sun sets to enjoy the maritime view.
Once the sun has set, we return to our old spot at nearby Fetovaia to spend a second night there.

Unser ursprünglicher Parkplatz is belegt, darum müssen wir ein bisschen weiter parken. Eigentlich ist das ein viel besserer Platz für uns zum Stehen, also bleiben wir hier bis die Sonne untergeht.

Nach dem Sonnenuntergang geht’s zurück nach Fetovaia, um eine weitere Nacht dort zu verbringen.
