For the first time in many years, I get to spend a full Christmas season in Germany. And that means all the old traditions are just a normal part of life.

Today is the first Sunday of Advent, and for that the first of four candles is lit. Mother was busy setting up the advent display just the other day, using lots of fresh sprigs from the backyard.
