When Spring Arrives

Wenn der Frühling kommt   Ok, it’s actually much to early to think about spring already. But then, you only need to take a peek into mother’s garden to realize spring isn’t that far off any longer. And I love the little signs everywhere – the sunshine, the grass that gets greener, and most important of all the little snowdrops that are shooting up everywhere these days. Zugegeben, es ist ja noch viel zu früh, um an Frühling zu denken. Aber dann musst du nur mal einen Blick in Mutters Garten werfen und dann erkennst du, dass der Frühling eigentlich gar nicht mehr so fern ist. Und ich liebe die kleinen Hinweise überall – denn Sonnenschein, das Gras, das mit jedem Tag grüner wird und vor allem die kleinen Schneeglöckchen, die gerade überall aus dem Boden schießen.

Flammkuchen nach Herzenslust   May I recommend? La Flamme – a restaurant that specializes in tarte flambees. My aunt and uncle invited me there the other day. And besides offering all kinds of different tarte flambees (which in my eyes is special enough already), that restaurant topped it all with a very special offer – an all-you-can-eat special service, meaning: If all people at your table agree, you can order two tarte flambees of your choice each round, and as long as you finish both tartes, you can order two more. All at a flat rate. And that’s what we did. We ate tarte flambees until our stomachs couldn’t handle any more! Yum! Darf ich empfehlen? La Flamme – ein Flammkuchenrestaurant. Tante und Onkel luden mich kürzlich dorthin ein. Und neben dem allgemeinen Angebot von Flammkuchen aller Art (was ich schon besonders genug fand), setzte dieses Restaurant noch einen obendrauf, indem sie einen all-you-can-eat service anbieten, was heißt: Wenn alle Leute an einem Tisch mitmachen, kann man pro Runde zwei Flammkuchen seiner Wahl bestellen. A Siegerland Journey

Eine Siegerlandreise   It used to be my home before we moved on. And it used to be quite dear to my heart – Siegerland. So, quite naturally, I’m always happy when an opportunity arises for me to go back there and visit with family, friends and the beautiful hills and forests in that part of Germany. Es war mal mein Zuhause, bevor wir weggezogen sind. Und es war mir einst ganz lieb und teuer: Das Siegerland. Darum ist es nur natürlich, dass ich immer wieder gerne dorthin zurückkehre, um Familie, Freunde, aber auch die waldreichen Hügel in einem schönen Teil Deutschlands zu besuchen.              

A Fast & Furious Birthday

Ein furioser Geburtstag   It’s time to celebrate a birthday in our family. And since this was all about a guy, and since the guy loves to be fast and furious whenever it comes to cars and driving, it had to be a fast and furious birthday. Bei uns in der Familie ist es an der Zeit, Geburtstag zu feiern.
