Fontastischer Mittwoch: Kostenlose Schriftartpaarungen I’ve always been a great lover of fonts! Bits of word art, therefore, always get me hooked quite easily. The problem is that not always do word art elements that come with a kit really meet my scrapping needs of particular pages. Here’s where it comes in handy when I can create a bit of word art on my own. And for that it’s great when you have a couple of fonts to play with on your computer. On the www there are tons of websites giving you ideas for great fonts and which fonts look well in combination with which other fonts. 11.11 – Oder Hol-dir-ein-Schnäppchen Tag Mail and delivery services are busy these days. Why? Because we just happened to pass November 11th, or double-11 as it’s called here. And while I don’t need to discuss why 11/11 is a special date (most people will catch that this is a more special number than say 7/15, unless 7/15 is your birthday, of course), around here it’s an especially special day. Because the biggest internet retailer of the country puts everything on sale (talking about the Black-Friday effect, large scale). Needless to say that everyone rushes to take advantage and buy things, and so, like I said, mail and delivery services are exceedingly busy these days! Just as they said, the workers were ready for me when I got back from class today, not only ready to look at the floor again (which they’ve done countless times before), but actually ready to take action. Etwas regt sich If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that all year, I’ve been having trouble with my home (water damage, turning into mold). These couple of months things have gotten so bad that, yes, I had to abandon the place and move elsewhere, to stop getting sick from the poor living conditions at home. And I was told that there’ll be no way of solving the problems with home … But now, hope’s stirring, because today, there was a knock on my door (that is the door that I borrowed together with the apartment I’m borrowing these days from my friends who are absent for a couple of months). And the person belonging to that knock is one of the people responsible for keeping our building together. He wanted to inspect my apartment (yet once more!), and says that maybe tomorrow he’ll send a couple of workers to see what can be done. It’s Game Time Once More

Es ist mal wieder Zeit zum Spielen It was game time, once more. Except, this time I didn’t get to play with my university students, this time, I got to play with those who are a head (or a couple of heads shorter). We spent a lovely hour with the kids from one of the orphanages around here, and I guess, they were happy about our visit, and so were we …   Es hieß mal wieder “Spielzeit.” Nur, dieses Mal hab ich mal nicht mit meinen Universitätsstudenten “gespielt,” diesmal durfte ich mal mit denen spielen, die einen Kopf (oder mehrere Köpfe) kleiner sind. Und wir verbrachten eine nette Stunde mit den Kindern von einem der Waisenhäuser in der Gegend, und ich nehme an, sie haben sich mindestens genauso über unseren Besuch gefreut wie wir …

There’s never an end to finding awesome layouts in the galleries. For today’s post, I chose this little beauty: Man kann kein Ende finden, wenn es darum geht großartige Layouts in den Galerien zu finden. Für heute habe ich diese kleine Schönheit ausgewählt: I loved the divided composition of this page, the dotted background paper, the clustering and layering, and needless to say – the title work. So I tried to incorporate some of these on my own page … Was mir an dieser Seite besonders gefällt, sind die geteilte Komposition, das gepunktete Hintergrundpapier, die Anordnung der Papiere und Elemente, und – ich muss es nicht erst erwähnen – den Titel.
