Last Days of Summer

September is showing itself from its nicest side, or should I say – it’s showing the sunny side up? Whichever way you say this, I couldn’t help myself … I had to get out and about, get that last bit of blue sky and sunshine that I may have in a while. (Not being pessimistic here, just really realistic in knowing that I’ll be heading out East again soon, where gray skies compete against gray skies everyday. So here I’m quite happy about the last days of summer!

Summer’s Farewell

When it cooled down not long ago, I thought summer had waved us its final good-bye – meaning it’s going to stay cool and get colder and colder as the year progresses. What I didn’t expect was that summer would give us quite the comeback. And so, these days it’s been all glorious sunshine, blue skies, nice temperatures, just as perfectly summer as perfect can get, in terms of summer!

A Tide-Telling Tale

My aunt has a cup. Not just any cup. It’s a very special cup. Not only does it look rather skew-whiffed (as if it had to stand the tide, barely making it), it even comes with rather peculiar abilities. It can tell you the tide. Yes, that’s right. It’ll always tell you quite accurately whether there’s high tide (Flut) or low tide (Ebbe) in the cup! Smart thing! No wonder it’s been quite a favorite of my mom’s, though I must confess that drinking from this skew-whiffed thing can be quite the challenge for my not so seafaring little person!

In the Land of Victors

They call it the land of victors – the area where I spent part of my childhood. These days, I had a chance to go back there to visit with family and I got to get a “taste” of  the typicalities of that area. Yes, when I mean “taste” I mean that we actually went out for a delicious meal. But when I say taste, I also mean that the restaurant we went to was very special, because it was designed according to the typical architecture of the area. So, I can truthfully say that I got a double taste of the victor’s land – a culinary and an architectural one. Take a look at what I mean:   Interior design of the place: Interior design (yes, that’s inside the place, not outside as it looks):
