The French Bet

Here, check this out:   This is the proof of a bet I made with my nieces and nephew. As we were on our way to France yesterday (you may recall our little weekend trip), the threesome wholeheartedly insisted that they’d be able to set up camp within 15 min. (we’re talking about 2 large tents here). I had a hard time believing this, so we made a bet, and as soon as we were ready to unpack the tents I set the timer. And though I wasn’t surprised that it took them a bit longer than they’d predicted, I still was pretty impressed by these teenage kids that indeed within half an hour they’d finished setting up two 6-8 people tents. Not bad, not bad! And so, who cares about a lost bet? Well done, kids, I’d say!     And to prove to you that we’re actually having a good time together, take a look at this …

P2D: Remember This … Life is Beautiful

I found a fun page again that I took upon me to scraplift. Check out this layout, which was posted in the Sunday Sketch section at Studio Calico.   Like it? Me, too. What I loved about this layout apart from the way the title had been created, was the paper arrows, stitches, and the papers layered behind the photo. I also loved the bright and whimsical colors, so I went ahead and tried to incorporate most of these things on my own page …

Bienvenue Again …

It’s been just a tidbit over a year, but I’m back in France again. Nothing as exciting as Paris or Versailles (like last year), but it is France. (Although, I’d better keep silent about the fact that just looking across the river is looking back at Germany again.) You see, when my sister invited me on a little camping trip with her family to France, there was no way I’d say no. Not so much because camping excites me so. Fromage (that’s cheese in French, I learned as much on our trip to Paris last year) on the other hand does excite me. Especially when it’s fromage à la française! And of course, that was one of the first things we did after arriving and setting up … we went and got us some real fromage for the weekend! Well then, cheers!

Freebie Friday: Find Joy – Part 5

Yes! Time to celebrate (and get scrapping, of course), because today you receive the last part of my scrapbooking kit “Find Joy.” I hope you’ll have fun scrapping with this, and of course, if you like, I’d be excited if you could link me up with the pages you create with any of my freebie kits. (If you’ve missed a part, or older freebie kits, they’re still available for download, just see the tag “freebies” for more.) Of course, my terms of use apply as always, which means you can only use this kit or parts of it for your personal scrapping; no sharing in part or all (though you’re welcome to share links to mistyhilltops.com), no commercial use, etc. … just check the TOUs, if you’re in doubt. And now that we have this settled, I’m excited to share with you a preview of what’s coming next: This kit is called “Daybreak by the Sea,” and you can start collecting it next week. It’s jam-packed with unique goodies, so make sure to come back …

Hybrid Hub: Card #57 – With Love

Having a nifty little machine like the Silhouette to do all your crafting is just the greatest fun ever. Naturally, I have to get all my creative juices going to try out new things, and to create little pretty things, such as this card: Admitted, this isn’t actually a true hybrid project. I made this card with some old scrapbook papers that I still had in my stash (and which now my sister has), so it’s actually a real scrapbooking project. But who cares. It’s pretty, and that’s what matters. Here’s a little detail of the card:

Inspire Me: Kaiser Kraft Workshop

Are you looking for some more inspiration for your pages? Then I may have a link for you that may interest you. Kaiser Kraft, which is rather a big name in the paper scrapbooking world, also has much to offer for the digital scrapper – at least as far as inspiration goes. A while back I stumbled over their website which comes with a bunch of free magazines (of course, it’ll help their business, no doubt), but even for us digital scrappers there are lots of ideas and inspiration hidden in their pages. For example, they present lots of layouts and even a free sketch with every issue. Don’t miss out on some gorgeous inspiration and hop on over to check things out (if you haven’t done so yet!).

A Happy IKEA-Going, Salad-Eating Special Day

Today was a happy day. No, not because I was able to go to IKEA (although that is a happy occasion for anyone who usually doesn’t have any store of like kind anywhere near her). It also wasn’t because we got various flowers and plants for my sister’s apartment – though flowers are always something to make someone happy – at least someone like me. Neither was having a late lunch at IKEA the sole reason for my happiness … (Though I did enjoy my salad well enough.) No, the reason for my happiness was … this young lady here:Why? Because the reason we went to IKEA, the reason we had IKEA salad, lots of happy flowers, pizza for dinner at a restaurant and a whole lot of other fun today was the fact that we celebrated this young lady’s birthday today. Happy b-day, dearest sister! I’m glad I was able to spend it with you together!

Why Lina Likes Shower Heads

This is Lina: Like crazy Paul, she’s also a member of my sister’s household. And while she seems to be quite a bit more fragile than her big brother Paul, she’s actually every bit as cheeky as he is – and just as crazy (as far as cat is concerned). One of the favorite things Lina likes to do is: take a shower. Yes, you heard me: Shower! Actual, real water is flowing, all wet and everything shower. As soon as she hears water running in the bathroom, she comes sprinting, trying to get as much of the water fun as she can get. And after people used the shower, she makes sure to shake the hose with the shower head, so that even the last little rest of water comes dripping down on her.  I don’t know how what my sister did, but she definitely managed to get two really rather crazy and funny cats.

Journaling Café: Places

Places … talking about places doesn’t always mean talking about traveling, although it can certainly include this. Today, I’d like for us to talk about places – the favorite go-to place as well as your favorite place to retreat … Take a look at today’s journaling prompts:   I also thought a bit about places, more specifically, the places I’ve been to. Some of the places. Take a look at my page that came of it:
