Enable Me: Favorite Fonts of Homemade Ocean

It’s been a while since I talked about fonts the last time. And since I love fonts, and since I constantly keep adding to my collection of fonts, I’d like to share with you a fun mix of fonts I found on another website (homemadeocean.com) the other day.   All these fonts are meant for use when creating flyers, but quite honestly, I think they’d look just as well on any scrapbooking layout. So, if you want to know more, please go to homemadeocean.com (esp. if you’re looking where to get these fonts)!

Bananula Giantulus

I’d like to introduce to you a new species: bananula giantulus – a sort of banana one of the people at school showed up with today. Note the huge dimensions of this very long-fingered cluster has. Indeed, I’d say that some bananas went banana here!

Journaling Café: Summer

Who doesn’t like summer? All the fun outdoors, the picnics, the visits to the lake (or pool), the trips to the ice cream parlors (at least in Europe), the family vacation … Today’s journaling prompts, therefore, are all about what to do on those perfect summer days.   There you have it! And since I love to scrap what others journal, here’s my take on today’s prompts. I scrapped about what a perfect day in the summer would look like for me:

Learning How to Learn

My bouquet of experiences is continuing. This week that means I’m back in school! One more week of learning, and what’s exciting about it is that we’re learning about how to learn! Well, good to know that, since I’m nearing the end of my current academic endeavors. I’m glad I’m not missing out on this essential piece of knowledge. And as we learn, we also learn about excellent pieces of art. Such as the one that was at the center of our learning today. Well, then, on to learning new things once more!

Flowers, an Island, and Butterflies

Lake Constance. It’s the largest lake in Germany (though admitted, we share it with two other countries – Switzerland and Austria). And since Lake Constance is pretty big, it even has a couple of islands, one of them being Mainau, which actually is owned by Swedish nobility. And Mainau is a place of flowers, gardens, a castle, rare and exotic plants, and a butterfly house. Reason enough, the family thought, to spend a beautiful summer day at Lake Constance and on Mainau island.

The Ant War Zone

Check this out: This is little Professor Nephew trying to conduct research and see how a bunch of small little field ants get along with one representer of the larger species of their kind (they actually don’t, he found out). If we do a little recap, you may remember that a couple weeks back a friend of mine got an ant working place as a present from someone else. Back then I was fascinated immediately and pretty soon thereafter thought an ant working place such as this would make a pretty perfect present for young Professor Nephew. And indeed, I don’t regret having given him this present. Though I do regret (an antsy little bit) that he decided to put two different kinds of ant people in there, because with all the biting on each other’s legs and such I wonder how many of the ants are actually going to survive this night … I guess Professor Nephew’s research results will tell him in the morning!

P2D: We Two

This week with my family has been fun, and so I decided to scrap about one of the things that happened. But first, of course, I should show you the layout that inspired my page:   Ok, so what I loved about this page was the overall composition and all the little details, like the hard element, the butterfly, the little wordart pieces. I also loved the use of paper as a mat, so I tried to incorporate a couple of these things on a digital page of my own, and here’s what came of it …

The Lucky Ones

My sister took me to a lady’s night tonight, and it seems to me that we were rather lucky people. Not only were we treated as VIP for the simple fact that my sister provided part of the stage decoration, no we actually were really lucky. You see, it was actually a really hot and summery day. Too hot for the ice cream vendor, indeed, because the ice cream was melting, and shortly after we’d gotten our share of the delicious treat they had to close everything and stop selling. So, yes, I consider it great luck that we were some of the few people who – on a hot day – were able to get something fresh and cool!
