Gingerbread Delights

I hope you are having pleasant holidays. In that part of the world where I grew up, today’s still a full holiday, and so I was intent on continuing my celebrations. For me, that means, more special treats from home – like this gingerbread cookie mix that comes with some of my favorite Christmas treats. Anyhow, to those of you who are still celebrating, I wish a happy 2. Christmas Day!

Christmas Time Is Here …

… and that means our days are filled with phone calls, celebrations, and a whole lot of merriness. I for one am very happy, because (among many other good reasons) today, for the first time in years, I got a real Christmas present. All wrapped up and such. And it wasn’t just one present, but a couple of things that will help make my Christmas season next year real sweet again. Wrapped in pretty papers, I found things like … – spices (cloves and nutmeg), which are hard to come by here – a gingerbread house cutter kit (now you have to say that out loud to make it sound real good!) – a card game “Bohnanza,” which will be a perfect pastime for my students (though I’m afraid I might have forgotten the rules) I hope, you are having a pleasant holiday as well. Cheers, and happy celebrating!

Merry Christmas

Since it’s Christmas and all, these days, I thought I’d take today (and the next two days) off from talking about digi-scrapping. But I’m not going to abandon you for a couple of days without wishing all of you a very merry Christmas. And I want to thank you for stopping by my little corner and taking the time to visit me this way. Knowing how many of you are checking out what’s new at mistyhilltops.com every day has made blogging a fun, rewarding and worth-while experience for me over the last two years. Thanks to all of you, and happy holidays!

The Gingerbread Village

After last year’s success with our gingerbread house, I decided to give it a try again this year. Except that this year the stakes were a little higher. After all, last year I had been able to work with a ready-made kit – just putting the pieces together and decorating them. This year, I had to do it all from scratch. So I shaped everything, baked it, and by the time I was ready, my friends came to help decorating. And guess what! This year it actually turned into a whole gingerbread village! Because, aside from the big “mansion”, we also created a dozen tiny houses which we sprinkled with candy and coconut flakes. Whether it will be as delicious as it looks … we’ll see!

It’s time for me to share the latest on my DD album: For larger view and credits, click on individual pages. Now it’s time for me to get ready for the holidays. To all of you I wish a merry Christmas and some happy celebrating.
