Freebie Friday: Clock

Yes! Freebie Friday is happy Friday. I’m excited, because I have a brand new template from a brand new layout “My Day.” I hope you’ll find some use for it, sooner or later. Anyways, Digital Scrapbook Day is approaching, and I’m thinking of re-uploading some of my older templates again for that special occasion. But I don’t want to have so much work, if it’s just a handful of people who didn’t get them in the first place, or who care about downloading them. So, if you are interested in getting one of those templates from my blog that aren’t available any longer, just shoot me a comment here between now and next Friday, telling me which one you’d like to have, and I’ll fix the links to the most popular ones, or so. Would that be a good deal for you? Anyways, see you around in digiland, and as always: Happy Friday, scrappers! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share the link to this post), and when you …

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 18

Check out my next Thank-You card. I made it with Libby Pritchett’s “Apples on a Stick,” and used Darcy Baldwin’s Stamp Pad Alpha for the sentiment. The ribbon was a simple piece of lace someone else had cut off their bedding, and altogether this makes another little card that will make someone happy, I’m sure.

What the Midterm Exam Has to Do With Tennis

I’m sure, most students hate midterm’s week. After all, they are being tested. I, however, like the time of midterm exam. Not because I get to give the exam (the freshman exams usually are later than everyone else’s since their classes started late, due to their military training in September). I like midterm’s week, because it means I get to play tennis a little more. All the students who would have tennis class, have to take their exams, which consist of running around the track. So, the tennis courts are open for whoever wants to play, and one of those people enjoying that extra time of tennis would be me! Photo Challenge Day 27: From a Distance

Enable Me: Custom Shapes for Photoshop

I usually have photo actions for you when I want to share something for Photoshop on Enable-Me Wednesdays. Today, I thought I’d mix things up a bit (though don’t worry, I still have lots of more free photoshop actions to share with you, thanks to my sister who hooks me up). Today, I have a set of custom shapes that I’d like to share. If you’ve seen yesterday’s tutorial post on creating journaling mats from custom shapes, then this is the perfect addition for you to find a huge assortment of various shapes. (My leaf shape is from this custom shape set.) Simply click on the image above to get to the download page, and I hope you find this useful (esp. for those of you who do the challenges at SSD as this month has a challenge to create a brush from a custom shape). Have fun playing with all the shapes …

Behind the Scenes: Creating Journal Mats from Custom Shapes

The other day, I created a layout on which I used a leaf for my journaling, and after uploading it to the gallery, I got several comments because of that, so I thought, today I’d show you how to create a journal mat just like that, using custom shapes and working with a text path. Anyways, I haven’t done a tutorial in so long, it’s really time for something new … In this tutorial you will learn how  to … … create a custom shape and clip a paper to it; … ink the edges for a more worn look; … create a text path from a custom shape and fill it with your journaling; … add a border to your shape. Here is how it works … Step 1: Create a Custom Shape On your canvas, go to “Custom Shapes” (U), choose a shape, and holding down the shift key, create a proportional shape. Step 2: Rasterize Shape Rasterize the shape.   Step 3: Create an Expanded Selection With the Magic Wand Tool (W), …

Golden October

It’s October alright. Where I come from, October means golden days – bright yellow and red leaves against deep blue skies; we call it the Golden October. Here, however, it’s more October than it’s golden. And usually, before you know it, the leaves have turned brown and dead, and then everything is gone! Well, but I have hopes for this year. The weather has turned quite chilly these last couple of days, and so far, this has been the chilliest autumn we’ve had (as far as I remember) since coming to China. So, my hope is that maybe the chill will do a thing or two to help those leaves find their colors. Oh, and guess what? I was just out with my camera today, trying to catch that golden fall (after all, we don’t get sunny days and blue skies very often), when a patch of yellow flowers caught my eye. I thought, those flowers would make a good shoot for my upcoming Friday challenge, when I discovered something even more exciting. Did I …
