Freebie Friday: Just Arrived

I just finished this photo book project, but I’ve already been working on another one. It’s about our family vacation in Sweden that was about to draw to an end exactly two years ago. So, today’s new template is based on one of my latest pages for that Sweden photo book. We had just arrived and everyone was still checking out the place when I took that photo that I used for this layout. I hope you’ll enjoy scrapping with this template, and as always: Happy Friday, everyone! PS: For those of you who wonder about older templates – only the most recent four are usually available. Sorry, if that means you missed some of the older ones. I might do another contest, if you are interested in having the old ones, too! Note: Please do not re-distribute this template in any way (you may share the link to this post), and when you use this template, please make sure to credit it to Misty Hilltops Designs.

Fun with Chinglish: Let’s Enjoying

Got you another sample from Hong Kong. I loved this one as soon as I saw it on a window of a store in downtown Hong Kong. Note: When posting anything in the Fun with Chinglish section, I don’t mean to show disrespect towards anything or anyone in any way. I’m simply sharing the fun we get to have with all those great signs & documents!

Hybrid Hub: Card No. 12

Here is the next card that I made last summer, using Fee Jardine’s “Bliss.” This kit comes with cute embellishments that are perfect for cards, and it’s another example of how with very little extra supplies you can still create some simple cards. I’ve got lots of people to say thank you to, so this one’s another thank-you card, though you could easily use that label to write any kind of sentiment.

Around Town: Gray Skies

Here’s the irony: Just the other day, I ran into one of the new foreign teachers coming out of the foreign faculty building longing for a breath of fresh air and getting none as the weather in August usually still is pressing hot! So I told her that she couldn’t expect any relief of this kind of weather when stepping outside for at least another two months (which usually is quite true), but then comes today – rainy (which is a good thing after it’s still been far too dry), and almost somewhat chilly! At least I can walk outside with a sweater and still feel comfortable. Now, I wonder what she (that foreign teacher) might say to that! 😉

Food Corner: New Cafeteria

The cafeteria opened again for the foreign faculty, after they’d been shut down for the summer break due to all the remodeling that’s going on. I don’t have a picture yet (though I’ll update you once I remember to take my camera), but I can tell you that the new cafeteria looks a lot like an upgrade to the old one. Of course, right now everything is still somewhat under construction, which means it’s only half done, but it’ll be presentable once it’s finished – that much I can tell! I myself still have to cook a little more to finish all the produce I still have from my month of cooking, but I’ll enjoy that extra freedom before diving fully into the meal schedule again!

New Teachers Arrived

The summer break is quickly moving to its end – the new teachers for the school year of 2011/2012 have arrived. And they bring some fresh air into our routine. After all, their excitement about being in China hasn’t worn off yet, so they pretty much like everything, get excited about everything, and have not yet learned what it means to struggle with the differences of the culture. In any case, for me it means there’s new people to meet, new colleagues to work with, new friends to be made.
